Just bought 95 LS

Ok I finally got a monte. I have a 95 LS with 130k on body 104K on engine. I was told that the car ran to a store and never would start. No lights came on or overheated simply did nothing. Towed it to the mechanic and he said it had low oil pressure and found metal in the oil. I too found metal in the oil. One speck in it and it aluminum???? What aluminum is inside that would shear off? It tries to fire but doesnt. Am I better to replace engine or try to fix this one? Are there common problems that cause this?

pull front valve cover and watch all rocker arms while cranking, these 3100's are good at breaking camshafts. let me know
