vinyl roof question

My 89 has the vinyl on the back of the roof and I was wondering if anyone knew what the car looked like under that cuz I would really like to remove it. Plus my roof has a significant amount of rust so I need to sand and primer it and I’m pretty sure there’s probably rust underneath it.

removal of this i would recommend as it does collect rust... back in the 80's i had to order my vehicle from factory with out this roof cover...as all the cars came with it.... the roof should have a good zinc coating the use of a self etching primer should work after its cleaned...

Re: vinyl roof question

I'd prepare myself for a lot of work once you remove the vinyl. Since you say the rest of your roof has rust then almost automatically there will be plenty under the portion that is covered by the vinyl. I remember taking off my vinyl roofs in the '80s and was amazed at the amount of rust and deterioration underneath.
