Supercharged ecotec engine with nos, forget about the 3.1 liter, if you are going to make it faster, then make it a lot faster.

I can get you a turbo kit for your car if interested! You get more out of turbos than s/c!

Well the 95-02 models are all virtually the same car. You may have to use different motor mounts depending on the engine you select. As far as which engine to choose, you would be good with either the 2.4twin cam or the 2.2 ecotec. The 2.4 has 10 more stock hp than the ecotech, but weighs twice as much and uses a bit more gas. The ecotec is an all aluminum engine and only weighs 300lbs. So, either way the engines are about equal for stock performancewise in a 3rd generation cavalier. I think that there's more performance parts available for the 2.4 twin cam cuz the ecotec is a brand new engine for 02. Also, the 2.4 would be a hell of a lot easier to find seeing as how gm used it as a powerplant in several different cars for the past 5 years. Well, i hope this has been some help. Good luck!

Dont go s/c!!!!! For that small of a motor the s/c takes to much power to make power! Go turbo.

the 2.2 ecotec sounds like a good engine....but without mods to put on it a fully mod'd 2.4 twin cam would smoke it.....does anyone have any sites for stuff for a 2.2 ecotec and also the 2.2 ecotec is on the base versions of the cavalier ? starting at 2002? wat about the 2003 cavalier...i haven't heard much about that at all yet...engine and spec wise

ok, seeing as your driving a cavy i'll assume you don't have a ton of cash, your choices are the 2.4, 3100, or 3400, best bet is a 2.4l

man, ill tell you what, you wont believe me, but the best engine to put in your car is a newer model (94-95) 2.3l quad 4. it has a higher redline than a 2.4, is more durable, and most of the pewrformance parts for the 2.4 will fit. tthese were put in the 95 model cavies and sunfires, so it shouldn't be hard to find one. oh, and although the 2.4 pushes about 155-160 base hp, the q4 pushes a little over 190. its true. my sunfier will roast any stock z-24 or sf gt on the road. and i put a stock , fresh 95 model 2.4 in it. NO PERFORMANCE MODS AT ALL. E-MAIL ME ON THE DETAILS.
