Quizzz: it's not Import but look like a Garage kit, not Muscle car but american, it has no 19' rims but 16', it is not lowered but could be???
Answer: it's a Teardrop Trailer. Here is the link to real ones http://www.desertteardrops.com/window.html Check the customer's TD's, you will certainly find one looking like mine. It's a project I began 3 months ago, just to change of all the bodywork and lowering I've recently done. I wanted to do something "Vintage". I took all informations on the Td's site and prepare my own plans. It will be 1/24 scale. Here are the first pieces I prepared for the work: ![]() It's made of different thikness of Evergreen Plasticard and square profiles. Other pieces come from an 1/24 Tamiya 1966 Beetle. ![]() ![]() ![]() The chassis: ![]() With the floor on: ![]() The first step of building, only buddies, no glue. ![]() And the Hasegawa 1966 Beetle that will pull the trailer. ![]() The roof support comes from a Gunze "ovale window" Beetle. These are the first plans I prepared for the backside kitchen. ![]() The kitchen, done of Evergreen plasticard ,printed pattern on paper and fine sheet of wood. ![]() The kitchen included between sides (painted and glued). ![]() ![]() Scratchbuilding of the front wheels, I used a wheel from an 1/48 plane. The chassis is now painted and have received a "dry-brush" of metalic color ( Humbrol 56 ). ![]() The round profiles I glued to harden the sides. ![]() And the begining of closing the roof with a thik sheet of aluminium ![]() And what it will loke like once closed. With my big fingers. ![]() A last pic of the rear kitchen. ![]() I had problems with the glue (superglue gel) and my sheet of aluminium was disformed. I had then to glue another one on the first but with liquid superglue now. The side window is now finished and glued, as well for the door and it's window. ![]() ![]() I've also prepared the chain and wire that will be added on the chassis ( between the car and the trailer). ![]() ![]() That's where I am for now. My next step will be the curved rear door and finishing the wheel arches. I hope it wasn't too boring ![]() Deedlit |

That's excellent, very well built.
You should make out your own 1/24 plans to sell. I'm sure they will be a hit with modelers into classic american cars.

Thanks for all your comments, I try to do my best.
To Bigfrit: These thin sheets of aluminium are used for offset printing. I didn't bought it , a member of my Modeling Club gave it to me. I don't know where you could buy some in Belgium, sorry. To Flyonthewall: When the TD is finished, I'll prepare a .pdf tutorial like you did for the intercooler. It will be downloadable from my Modeling Club website. But the site is not yet begun, I'm better in modeling than in webpages building. This project takes all my time of club meetings then be patient the end is near, more progress pics soon. Deedlit |

You're right Focus2000, the TD+VW will be on a diorama. The theme will be the side of a Californian road, with Mr and Mrs having a break.
I have lots of stuff to prepare for this Diorama: - open the right door of the Beetle - on the roof support: Coca-Cola cool box, Empi-parts box. - behind the trailer: camping table and chairs, bread , bootles, glasses and the twoo figures. Won't be finished for march, I have a great contest in Belgium in March in Jabbeke (Gent) called "On the road" ( for the belgian and dutch modellers) and I think I'll put it in the "Scratch category" not yet in the "Diorama category". Hi all,
Sorry for the late updates to my project but I haven't a lot of time to complete my thread. :o I know that I'm a slow modeler but here is the latest progress. I stopped working on the trailer, I have problems to realise the rear door and my motivation needs to be reoriented on a CAR. So, I've begun the 1967 Hasegawa Beetle. Sorry for the crappy pics, I can't fix the macro mode. I cut the passenger door and the door panel to. ![]() ![]() Chassis is finished ![]() I detailed the bottom of the seats. Created a frame under the seats with piano strings and the swinging armature. ![]() Here is a pic of a real seat to show you how it should look. ![]() Chassis with seats on (seats unpainted , fixed with buddies) ![]() Behind rear seat I created a strap with PE-parts. This strap is hooked to keep the seat "open". ![]() I've scratchbuilt the hook for the trailer. ![]() Here is the plan I used to create it. ![]() And how the beetle looks now. ![]() I've still so much work to do, I become a bit discouraged ![]() Still doors, panels, dashboard to finish. Don't hope progress pics soon , I don't know when I'll continue on this one. Give me some motivation, and it' ll be finished before Xmas 2004. ![]() Comments are welcome. Deedlit |

![]() WOW ! thanks man , for sharing ! I definetively love what you're doing to the beetle (is it better then the tamiya model btw) You really did a great job , right down to the tiny details ! The photo-etched parts and the seat details are a welcome addition! Fabulous! Only I m a bit ![]() Is that the definetive colour or just the colour of the bare plastic? ? Do I have to add I really like this progress ? Keep up the good work and maybe we will see a nice finished model by ... november 2004 ? ![]() I kinda like it! olivier |
