Mercedes S600 Limo

Hello model builders. I am working on a Mercedes S600 limo. I thought of doing this for years after seing someone do a 1/43rd scale version from 2 Minichamp models of same car. I thought why not do a 1/24 scale version by Tamiya. I didn't want to take chances on my 2 Tamiya S600 kits so I purchased 2 CC Lee kits from ebay. I started on it 2 years ago and also gave up many times on it because of problems with making the body look normal. Then I felt the need to finish it and started back on it a few months ago. Here is the kit I used which is not as nice as Tamiya but not a bad kit. I'll post pic of interior and exterior later.

Re: Mercedes S600 Limo

Looks pretty cool, But I think I would have smoothed the rear Sunroof out.

Re: Mercedes S600 Limo

Here it is now. I still have the bottom half to do plus more polishing. I thought of getting rid of the back sunroof but then remember that it is a limo.

Re: Mercedes S600 Limo

this is new~ i always see people making S600 limo, but never a 600sel! i guess the kit is too rare/precious.

Re: Mercedes S600 Limo

Yes, And your right, these kits are so rare, you don't want to take chances and mess it up. It took me 2 years to get it to this point. I might just do pretty well with a Tamiya version now. The 2 CC Lee kits I used to make this car was very cheap (about $7.00 each) 2 years ago on Ebay but they are also rare kits to find. I just hope this turn out well for me.

Re: Mercedes S600 Limo

I don't have much time in my life for my hobby plus I'm working on too many projects at once. But, I finally got my grill done but had a major problem happened when my limo dropped and cracked when I tried to catch it. I am repairing it. I might just fill in the sunroof also. I made these AMG wheels for the limo but might just put them on my Fujimi AMG E55.

Re: Mercedes S600 Limo

Later, I might just do the same with my Tamiya kits if this come out OK: but on the other hand, I won't need to use my Tamiya kits if this come out right. Anyway, What color will you make your?

i am definitely going to make it black! with tan interior. i think thats the best combination for the kind of car the 600SEL is.
and yes...this kit is sooo rare...it costs me a fortune to get it on Ebay! whereas the "sister kit" (S600 Coupe) is not, i got my hands on the S600 coupe and S600 coupe AMG for a decent price.

Re: Mercedes S600 Limo

I Have 2 AMG S600 coupes, 3 600SELs and 1 regular S600. I am starting with this limo for practice but look forward to yours also. My interior might not be as good as the exterior because it is cheap looking compared to the Tamiya's but I hope to do my best to make it right.
