repairing a drive axle on 2007 silverado
I bought a new truck that had it's axle snapped off at the outer bearing during a car accident. I would like to replace it with a new axle and was wondering how difficult it is to replace. I guess my main worry is do you have to take the differential out to replace the axle? It is the newer style truck with a locker rear end.
Thanks |

Re: repairing a drive axle on 2007 silverado
Hopefully it didnt bend the housing in the collision. As for the axle, easy job..pull the rear diff cover, remove pinion shaft bolt, remove pinion shaft and push axle in to remove the c-clips, and your good to pull out the axle. Carefull you dont rotate anthing though with the pinion shaft out or the spider gears may fall out.

as long as the housing is not bent or cracked you should be fine.
