Hello everybody,
after a long time, I start building models again...
This is the tamiya zexel skyline gt-r gr.n

but I'm not making it out of the box..
Instead I'll make a more street (drift) version..
I dont have much free time, and I'm also building some other models, so be patient...

well, this is the chassis

I glued these "fenders" at the back
and I cut some grills in front

I sanded some things (like names, badges etc...)
and I used some putty to cover holes..
anyway here it is

I wont put the spoiler

Re: WIP: Tamiya Skyline R32 street - DRIFT

oh, yes my friend, I have a little trouble with time....

anyway, lets start with the engine.... so, lets make a DRIFT car, right??
hmm, let me see, this car is a 4wd... no I dont want it, I want a RWD with a LOT of horsepower!!!
so, why dont I... change it into a RWD???

this is the result:

no front differential, and no front axles... it also has some paint, and some pipes for the radiator..

here is from under:

here is the intake, with some piping (and something like a blow-off valve):

let me know what you think...

Re: WIP: Tamiya Skyline R32 street - DRIFT

awsome! im guessing the engine in the Grp.N. engine is standard like the stret version? as far as I know, they had to have pretty much standard engines, doing many mods to the engine?

Re: WIP: Tamiya Skyline R32 street - DRIFT

I'm not sure if its stock or not, but for sure it doesn have a lot of detail...
(the pipes stop on the air...)
Well, for starters turning a 4wd into a rwd I think is allready a BIG mod, what u say??? Plus I'll put a BIG turbo, custom (full) exhaust, full piping, (maybe some cables) etc. -you should see what I'm doing with the intercooler....!!!

Re: WIP: Tamiya Skyline R32 street - DRIFT

well, my friend, thanx for the support!!
you got a nice engine bay there!!
(now I have to make a better one? )

for the colour, I bought a spray from a shop (not a model shop)
so I dont know if it works on the model body, but I'll give it a try, because its very nice colour... It is a light green pearl...

as for the rest, I'll let the pictures do the talkin....

I'm not sure about the wheels...

maybe I'll buy others from the internet....

what do you think???

Re: WIP: Tamiya Skyline R32 street - DRIFT

personally I like the wheels, very 80's, but im not sure if they suit the drift look.HAAhAA!!i see the intercooler........Oh my....that is the intercooler right? u havent grafted on an 18-wheeler front grill have you?....wow...is big......so where is the rest of the car?
Oh RIGHT! behind it!! i missed it for a second, that is awsome,so awsome, did u make the intercooler?
mmmm, pearl green, sounds great, if it works out, and im confident you would easily do a nicer one than mine, mine aint that nice.
wow.....my mouth is still hanging open from when i layed eyes on the intercooler...totally cool!

Re: WIP: Tamiya Skyline R32 street - DRIFT

well, I have some photos of the paint progress....

I sprayed the body with this "strange" color that I found...
and it got a lot of "spots" on top of the surface...

rather than that, I think its a nice color..

but dont worry because I sanded it, and now its ok!

I also painted the intercooler !!!

mister s13 what do you think??

Re: WIP: Tamiya Skyline R32 street - DRIFT

looks a little like an S13 colour that was available, but it looks tops on the R32,lol, ATDMC suggested white graphics and white wheels?? and as i scrolled down I saw his signiture picture...and then it all made sense...have 2 say it would look pretty good tohugh, i still think charcoal centred wheels tohugh, altohugh its ur model, and since youve made some unusual decisions so far and they have all fitted togather better than SR and 20.so I trust you will do this car justice
lol, ands i didnt know that kit came with an intercooler, with the standard one, you get this sad plastic excuse for mesh,, and no form of intercooler at all

I understand what you mean! But the Zexcel comes with this one!!!
So I guess I was lucky!! (the only difference is that they put it inside the bumper
plus I put these "hoses" at the sides, to connect some piping...
