Tamiya Mercedes 600SEL sedan

Here's my 600SEL sedan. I've built two of these (the other one is currently in restoration and reassembly). I always hated the kit wheels, so I replaced them with Tamiya S600 Coupe wheels, which are actually standard-fare wheels on the real U.S. vehicles.

Its painted MM Metallic black with parchment interior.

For an OOB with different wheels, this looks really nice. I would have a driver named Seymour take me about in this. I actually like it a lot!

Re: Tamiya Mercedes 600SEL sedan

Nice clean build, and the SEC wheels look perfect on it. I assume this kit goes together as nicely as the SEC which I have built...one of my favorite kits of all time.

You built the Spruce Green SEC, right? Great build! I built one too, but that is also under restoration and reconstruction.

Two things I found slightly annoying about the kit, involving difficulty in painting: 1) the window glass and 2) the engine manifold cover. I wish there were window masks for the windows and the manifold was composed of separate pieces. Because the manifold is a one-piece design, its hard to airbrush the black and silver & you always end up touching up with a brush.
