1/12 Nissan Skyline R32

Hi everybody, a few weeks ago I received this awesome kit from Hong Kong and now I decided to show you the progress.

I have to say that I don't have a lathe , yes I know I saw around here an awesome pieces machined but anyway this is another challenge , make pieces for that car in that scale without lathe. I'm ready to start this project I searched a lot on internet for reference pictures of the engine and I have already 137 pictures and also the owner's manual which indicates a lot of technical installations.

Well let's go to talk about the car, first talk about the body, the body will not have any modifications, one of my objectives is make this car realistic and I'm not looking for futuristic shapes and shapes without proportion, just the shape of the original car. The paint will be... for more realism a Nissan paint that I will buy from Hiroboy.com (zero paints) and also I know the code I will use but let me show you the color once painted on the body.

For the rims I thought to add a Rays / Volk style that I think I have to do myself with styrene... because I don't like the original rims, from here I want to tell you that I'm looking for a Tamiya's Super7 tyres or something like that tyres but it will be great to find tyres with important and actual manufacturers.

Well to sum up I have to say that I will try to make this car with details and patience, but this project will be very slow because of my scale motorcycles, I only will make the car to put off my head possible problems or stress about that scale motorcycles but of course I will do both things.

Here are the pics:

100% sure I will open the porter to show the fuel system.

My first words when I saw the car: What a huge car!!!

The body with a coat of surface primer.

A little thing I made with styrene (not finished yet)

Yes it is for the nitrous bottle

I have to repaint the area behind the screws again with matt black and also paint other things.

Stock piece

Starting to give more realism (a lot of work to do here)

That's all for now, I will try to think: Ok the engine is one kit and the car other then I will join both things and will appear the result. I think I will enjoy this kit it is how to make a real car.

Thanks!
Roca.

this is going to be great. I'm working on a Revell 1/12 Camaro and Mustang, I too do not have a lathe, so I'm working as much with styrene as possible

subscribed! One of the kits that I dare not buy due to fear of not having the guts to start. Will be watching with great interest.

Re: 1/12 Nissan Skyline R32

Thank you mates, yesterday I was searching on Internet for a good tyres because the kit have a slick and I would like to put a radial tyres, but apart from this would be great to find some tyres with the brand on the side I saw that Super7 from Tamiya are Yokohama I don't know what brand are the tyres of the 1/12 Porshce Carrera from Tamiya but I think they would look ok for this build, and also I'm thinking on the rims but I think I will do them with styrene and a lot of patience (maybe just do one and then copy it to make the others in resin) I like the style of the Volk models so I think I will make some of them.

TKS,

Yep I bought the car on www.ebay.com the seller is tomchina and I paid US $99.99 + US $56.00 to Spain.

There are a couple of Nissans but I think mine was the only one with the lower price.

Bye!

Re: 1/12 Nissan Skyline R32

Hi friends,

Just wanted to tell you that I have an idea, what do you think If I make a copy in transparent resin of the front fender of the engine (which is hiding the two pulleys) I think it would be a great detail showing the two coloured pulleys with the strap.

Also another question.. this is maybe a help needed , anyone has a set of 4 tyres (realistic and radials) for this car?? I searched a lot on ebay and internet also I checked for RC cars but I can't find any tyre with a real brand on the side and well I know that Tamiya 1/12 kits uses a real brand for their tyres.
For the rims "no problem" I will try to make them in styrene so I will keep searching for a good tyres.

Thank you!
I hope to post pictures soon.

Roca.

Re: 1/12 Nissan Skyline R32

Hey thank's Rob,

One friend told me that he found a good tyres on ebay so I think I will buy them anyhow I think they are a little big ( they are 1/10 scale) so I will cut a segment of the tyre and then glue it again with the following segment and I will try to hide the cut, also a great idea for the brand on the side , I will try to paint with a mask of the real brand and then I will paint the name in matt black maybe it will be ok.

Also I will start soon with the rims

Bye!!
Roca.
