check it out

so i was on you tube about 5 minutes ago, and was searching thru video's and somehow i stumbled upon a video entitled forza v.s gt4. so my sugestion is go to you tube, no need for an account, and type that in the search bar. and click on the 3rd or 4th video down, it's a dodge viper srt10 going around laguna seca in both games, side by side.
it really shows the difference between the two, and tell u the truth how much more of an arcade game gt4 is in comparison

Yeah, GT4 looks better in my opinion. I watched the video twice.

Re: check it out

things you can tell from the video:
forza looks better than GT4.

if that's what makes it better then, sure....

Re: check it out

forza is better because it looks better and the fact that the engines sound different. o and it doesnt have 50 different skyline's, the 232 cars are spread relativly equal for american japanesse and euro.
i think the creators of gt4 forgot that the game is sold to other continent other that asia. they need to limit the cars, i'd b happier with 350 cars from all over the world than 750 from 10 countries

Re: check it out

Well I think Polyphony did exactly what they wanted with GT. I just cant wait to see what the next one is like. They had a goal that they wanted to reach and they did that. The best Sim they could possibly make.

so... if GT4 didn't have so many skylines, it'd instantly be a better game?
if forza had more skylines, it'd instantly be a worse game?
even though the actual game part, is still exactly the same?
what do you mean the engines sound different in forza? As far as I can tell, the cars in GT4 all sound different as well. Must be my ears.

the thing with car variants is that you can't please everyone.
people went crazy over the sheer variety of models in GT2 but how many did people ever actually use?
I don't use more than 10 cars regularly no matter what version of the game it is.
You can give me every single car model ever and I'd still use those ten.
For me, you can have your 350 from all over the world, I'd be happy with my 10.
If i had to (or indeed if I needed to) choose, I'd choose the one that plays better. Tell me how Forza plays better than GT4.

Re: check it out

damage is number 1, physics is number two, and yes there is a difference between engine sound in gt4, just not as much so. a 4 and 6 sound the same and an 8 and 10 sound the same, whereas in forza each car has it's own distinct sound, a vette's 8 sounds much different than that of a ferrari 8(granted if u only play gt4 u wouldnt know that because gt4 doesnt have ferrari) just like a dodge stealth 6 sounds different than that of a 911 or even a skyline.
as for skyline's, i relize the skyline is one of the greatest JAPANESE cars of all time, doesnt mean that u need 54 different one's. the corvette is one of the greateest american cars and they have i think 3 or 4, same with the camaro. and my guess is the 911 for europe, but that comes back to porsche not being in gt4, no ruf is not the same car's with a different name, they use porsche parts

Re: check it out

My 2 cents on the issues:
The thing about GT4 is that they only have 10 or so many sounds for all the cars. It would be nice to have more, but it's probably not that easy to do and/or beyond the capabilities of the PS2 platform/software. Regardless, it's a pretty minor detail in the game so I don't think it should be a factor as to what's better.

Same with graphics. Yes Forza looks good, but i don't think its a better game because of it. After all, probably most, if not ALL, games will look better on an Xbox versus a PS2. I've never played Forza, but from looking at what it offers, it seems like Forza seems more suited for the beginner racer (everything seems more "simpler" and user friendly) and GT is more for the expert racer (technical adjustments, etc).
There are nine corvettes in GT4 including the Callaway C12 (hey, my screenname) which is a modified corvette. They're all pretty different and are wise choices as to what Vettes are important enough to include in the game.
Only six Camaros, but again, different enough and worth including.
Skyline is a worthy argument but who knows, maybe there's that hardcore gamer out there who owns a 94 Skyline and likes it better than the 97 he owned a few years before.
It's not that great having all these cars, but then again, its not that bad cuz it will please many many people if they're like drunken monkey who only needs 10 or whatever small number of vehicles. They are merely OPTIONS for everyone who plays to choose from and this is a good idea in that sense. Now me, even though its frustrating having tons of vehicles in the garage to worry about, i still like it cuz i like having options from over 600 vehicles; I mean, with the exception of an 02 STi and an Evo VII RS, I don't like using the same car OVER AND OVER, plus i run each race several times so I might as well maximize the use of the game and use several different cars.
As to what plays better, I dunno, but I wouldn't be surprised if GT4 played better than Forza cuz i've never been impressed with Xbox driving/racing games.

Re: check it out

u can adjust the car in forza, it's under the my garage menu, own both games and i'm serious when it comes to being a real simultion game different sounds for each car is important
and for ne1's info, game companies use only around 1/3 of wat the disc is capable of holding, therefor gt4 can fit without a problem all the different sounds.
yes forza is a lil easier at first, but damage and the fact that u can change all the settings make it better, u can put damage on full or none, and forza is also not a game where u can just go grab a ferrari and know that you'l beat a miata, it doesnt allow for that match up(unless u use cheats)

Re: check it out

yea, that still means they arent using all the space available to them. i know thats considered a very large game, if not one of the top 5 for ps2. but thats wat the entire series of gt is, push the limits of the playstation

Re: check it out

i was just pointing out that what you said previously was incorrect.
and you do know what most of the cars in GT4 are actually sampled, right?

Re: check it out

yea i know most of the cars are samples, but they have problems making enuf of a difference between 8cyls and other 8's and 6's vs. other 6's. the only one's that sound different to me are the vette, viper, ford gt, porsche 911, and the skyline. everything else sounds almost the same

Re: check it out

so are you saying that you would've liked them to have changed the sampled noises so that they are different to each other?
wouldn't that then mean they are actually not the real sound of the real car?
What was that you said about being a real simulation again?
