The warm up Revell Ferrari Enzo

While this being a Ferrari year I have decided to actually finish some kits this year.
Starting with the Revell Ferrari Enzo as a warm up so I get prepared for the things to come…

Impressions of the kit: This is not a good kit because it needs really a lot of work just to get the body to look decent.

The goals with this kit:
1. Finish it before April sounds easy but I’m going to Thailand on Monday and will be staying there for 2 weeks. And the fact that I haven't finished a kit in more then 10 years.
2. Don’t get lost in detailing it try to make it simple.
3. Ok looking not necessarily super finish.
4. Train my skills and make a good wip tread.

The kit will feature: Aftermarket wheels, and a special paint scheme or what to call it.
First the box:

Then the tools used for most of the time:

I started with the body and I have spent many hours on it just to make it look ok.
Sanding the body so it look good and scribing panel lines have been taking the time the fit of the front is bad and the line is a joke so the task was to scribe a new line and sand it to align with the rest of the body.
Underside tamiya putty so my scribing doesn´t go through

The front:

First pic still quite much left to do both sanding and scribing

Now soon ready for final primercoat

Please leave feedback!

Re: The warm up Revell Ferrari Enzo

A little small update:
The last coat of primer is on, and now it's time to vet sand it with 1200 and 2000 grit paper.
The engine cover still on the first coat of primer

Some small problems have I found and now is the time to correct them.

Overall I'm happy with the body now

Good start. Don't forget to fill the line on the sides of the lower part of the fron bumper (see picture for reference).

Re: The warm up Revell Ferrari Enzo

Ok so here comes another update:

I’ve fixed the front like Ales suggested. I wet sanded down the body with 2000 grit, and then started to paint it and the chassis that by the way got the same treatment as the body.

I paint it with a mix of Tamiya x11 and xf56 circa 10-1 mix.
I have shoot 4 thin coats of paint on the body and now I will wait for it to dry so I can sand it before another 2 or 3 coats go on.

The chassis:

I got inspired by the Japanese Enzo with painted under side so that is what I am doing

What do you think?

Thats a fantastic color! Will you put black Enzo wheels on this one? What color interior? Nice job so far!

Re: The warm up Revell Ferrari Enzo

Painting day nr2
Today is the day I want to finish the body colour and maybe start with clear coating the body.

Is it possible to use Tamiya ts clear over the acrylics? Or must I use the acrylic clear and shoot it though the airbrush?

I wasn’t really happy with the paint. I had mixed it to thin so I mixed up some more and now it felt better.

The finished body waiting for clear coat

I have also started on the seats and am trying to remove the moulded in seatbelt and it isn't easy.

The big question is will this be the first kit I finish???(at least since i was 12 and I am 29 now)

Re: The warm up Revell Ferrari Enzo

Phew I have now used a 2k clear for the first time and I was really nervous what if I ruin the body etc. was went on in my head. Now I can say it was really easy.

I mixed up some according to the instruction but got a little confused by Hiroboys math skills it says 10% thinner but in the example it's 15%.
I mixed it with 10% but I think I should have used 15% instead.

The painting it self went on pretty good but I got some orange peal see pictures:

Now I'm off to Thailand for 2 weeks and when I return I will sand the body and shoot another clear coat before I polish it out.
Johan

What do you think???

Please leave feedback and I also need tips about WHEELS and how I should do the interior

Re: The warm up Revell Ferrari Enzo

Here's some of that requested feedback:
Nice jon with the corrections, I have the Revell Enzo in my stash and now I know what needs to be done. I like the silver, all the red and yellows get old after a while, and the body color underside should be cool...

Looks great so far. Nice paint work. I don't have the Revell Enzo but it looks pretty nice.

Re: The warm up Revell Ferrari Enzo

I AM JUST ASKING, but why the body color underside? I know it is different and that may be why. I actually like it. I can't imagine what it will look like on the body. Great Job!!
