Revell 1/24 McLaren MP4/20

A few weeks ago, I finally completed Revell's 1/24 McLaren MP4/20. I used Studio 27's detail kit to compliment the base kit. For a complete buid diary, check out my website: http://members.shaw.ca/motorsportsin..._20_Part_I.htm

Here's the pics:

Gorgeous model you have built Bil.Stunningly clean finish and great masking skills.I know the Revell kit isn't the best but you made it look fantastic.

Indeed a very beautiful model.
Only downside is that it's JPM's car...

But seriously. This is really a great build. I mean normally you can spot a minor flaw here or there in the close-ups, but not here...
I really like the subtle heat-stainging on the exhausts. A nice finishing touch !

Thanks DerXL....I like JPM because he doesn't normally conform...he's a little bit controversial. Trust me...there's flaws...I'll never admit to being a perfect builder, I just try to hide the flaws!!!

Great job Bil

I have this one in my stash and your build convinces me it can make an excellent model.

BTW, would you like me to fix the photos so they come out vertically?

You did an awesome job on that kit, but the proportions of the kit itself are horrid.

It's a shame that kit series has been around so long beginning with the Protar era and they never have gotten one of them to look correct IMO.

At first I had no idea what you were talking about, the photos were all aligned vertically for me using Firefox....then I thought I would check IE. IE shows all the pics horizontally ....OOPS...Sorry about this, same with my Walter Wolf Suzuki Thread. I'll try to go in and fix it.

Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Veyron,

I have to disagree with you, the Revell kits are much better than they used to be, I think the McLaren is fairly close with it's proportions. I do think the nose might be a little long and/or the front wing is too short, i.e., too far away from the front wheels. Unless you want to spend huge $$$ on a resin kit, this is your only alternative if you want a modern McLaren.

Thanks for the compliment though.

Bil

That looks really fine. The small touch on the exhaust adds a lot.
