4.3l tbi/f.i upgrades????

anybody out there got any experience or info on 2001 4.3L W code tbi/fuel injection performance tuning/part/replacements?? i've checked with a couple of shops down here, and they say all the performance stuff is geared toward v8 sb. the only idea i won't entertain is a "spacer" or "tornado", as what i've heard from people that tried them, work just as good as crome muffler bearings!!
thanks in advance.
p.s. i gotta start using spell check!!

Your engine isn't throttle body injected. The throttle body on your engine only lets air in. You have CSFI (central sequential fuel injection) it is a type of multiport injection. In the center of your intake are 6 sequentially fired injectors. Each injector has a tube that goes to it's cylinder. The fuel flows through the tube and enters the cylinder through a spring loaded valve called a poppet valve. GM has had a lot of problems with the poppet valves plugging up or sticking. They've released an updated MFI conversion, that does away with the poppet valves for less than $200. As far as aftermarket upgrades, I believe that there are a few kits out there. You could even supercharge it if you wanted to.

Some simple things would be a free flowing exhaust, and a cold air intake.

Re: 4.3l tbi/f.i upgrades????

The GM MFI conversion won't give much (if any) performance gain. It will just do away with the troublesome poppet valves, and the performance problems that they cause.

Here's the TSB that GM put out about it. The first part explains the GM procedure for cleaning the poppets. The second part talks about the MFI conversion, there's some info and part numbers. The parts can be ordered from www.GMPartsDirect.com.
