Blue Seven (Parts 3)

It's that time again, to start a new thread to make it less cumbersome to load and to give my photohost site a break...

I will continue hosting the earlier pictures so the "Blue Seven (Parts)" and the "Blue Seven (Parts 2)" threads stay alive for those who wish to see them, but I will post the new parts in this thread... - Mark

Battery & Cables

Scratchbuilt. Mostly aluminum, some brass. Made the decals too.
Had it on the charger overnight, the green eye is starting to come up ... - Mark

Re: Blue Seven (Parts 3)

Re: Blue Seven (Parts 3)

Mark- Your attention to detail is unreal. I love it. I have two questions for you, if you dont mind.

1. How much money have you spent on this project to date?

2. Are you married? If so when was the last time your wife actually saw you? Do you sleep?

Ok so that was like four questions but I still want to know. I can wait to see this when it's done. Truely stunning. -Russ

Re: Blue Seven (Parts 3)

1. How much money have you spent on this project to date?
In just materials, not assessing time/value or tools, probably about $200.00-$300.00. Just a guess.
Scratchbuilding can be very cost effective, as well as very fulfilling.
The real question should be: How much time have I invested?

2. Are you married?
Yes, very happily, to a very supportive and encouraging wife. (Cute too.)

2a. If so when was the last time your wife actually saw you?
She knows where the shop is, she can visit anytime. I know where the kitchen is, we see each other...

2b. Do you sleep?
Yes, that happens, but I think about the project then so my subconscious can work for me, and I drink lots of coffee... - Mark

Doesn't need a deep cycle, besides, this is what brand I use in my real cars, a theme I have been using on this build... - Mark

LOL. I agree with you and the fulfillling part. I am working on my very first scratch built piece now, a tonu cover for an SVT Lighting I am building. Pretty basic part but a good start. I finally found a decent hobby shop in my area that carries stuff to scratch build. cant wait to do some more.

Thanks, Russ

Steering Wheel w/Quick Disconnect

Scratchbuilt, around 20 parts. Mostly aluminum. I broached the splines into the receiver so they match the splines on the column. The red button on the right is for the nitrous. Even made a plastic wire guide to keep the switch wires from dangling loose, yes, that's a phillips head. (Note the stitching on the faux leather grip.) The horn button has a cloisonne Seven logo in it... - Mark

Re: Blue Seven (Parts 3)

That is insane! Might you speak of how you did the stitching?

Re: Blue Seven (Parts 3)

Wow! That battery looks amazing! The steering wheel is sweet, what material is the ring and how did you stitch it?

LOL, I think one of your screw ups would look better than my best scratchbuilt part

Quick question: can you use your mad decal skills to make people custom decals? Such as hard to find logo or something in white? Thanks

Radiator

Scratchbuilt. Three row. Mostly made of aluminum, some brass, some steel for the core. 67 pieces make up the shell, core, core support, fittings/hardware, cap and petcock... Couple custom decals too... - Mark
