How do I remove the 2005 Suburban factory radio? Installing iPod...

Question I have is how to remove the factory radio. Anyone have any experience removing / installing the factory radio in an '05 suburban? Any links on how to do this?

I have a 2005 Suburban Z71. Just purchased the USASPEC PA11-GM product that allows you to connect an iPod to the factory GM stereo. Mine has both the 6-disc CD and XM radio and this device enables the iPod (and additional AUX audio connection) to co-exist with the existing factory CD and XM (and Nav if you have it). Sounds like a great product.

The instructions for installing the PA11-GM seem pretty straight forward. If anyone is interested, I'll post comments on how the install goes.

Thanks in advance.

Removing the factory radio is very easy. Lower the steering wheel as low as it will go, engage the emergency brake, lower the shifter as low as it will go, and then grab the dash panel at 1 corner (doesn't matter which 1) and slowly start to pull it off. It is only clipped on all around but be careful when you pull it out because it comes close to the hazard light switch and that switch can snap off. Once you get the dash panel off it's only 3 9/32" screws that hold the radio in. Wires are a little short so don't pull too hard to get the radio out. You may want to try to get your hands back there and unplug the 2 plugs and antenna back there. Email me if you have any problems with it. good2goaccy@aol.com

The little pocket next to the radio also just pulls right out and I did that to get my hand in back of the factory radio....made getting to the wires easier..
