Yukon XL tires

My front tires are wearing on the inside with only a few thousand miles. They have been rotated 3 times in 30K miles but the wear and roaring noise continues. The front end has been checked for alignment and was ok. 2 different respected mechanics (non GM) advised that original GM shocks were crap and that Michelin tires would perform much better than the Firestones. Any comments on this or other suggestions? Has anyone else have this problem?

Re: Yukon XL tires

My initial cross country trip from Houston to San Fran resulted in 6K miles and two worn tires. Learned that the tires were not aligned ourt of the factory. Alsohad to replace tie rods and steering knuckle. I would suspect bad parts on front end = regardless of what some "experts" have said.

Re: Re: Yukon XL tires

I have an 01 XL, and replaced the tires last spring for the same reason, now about 10K later and I see the inner tire wear reappearing. I've read that this is a common problem with Yukon/Sububans.

Re: Yukon XL tires

Sounds like a bad alignment.

If you normaly have a large amount of weight/load in your truck, have a alignment w/ the weight in it. As this would be angle the suspention would see most of the time.

I ran accross this @ my old company as we were buying new trucks (F350) Outfitting them w/ company gear. In turn, it was affecting the Camber. We were burning up tires. Had them aligned as they set loaded no more problems.

So if you were heavly loaded on your trip and / or week suspention to begin with you may see an increesed ware...

...just a thought...

Re: Yukon XL tires

I had the same problem with my 04 Yukon I had to change the tires at 30,000 miles due to uneaven wear, I bought some pathfinder luxury suv tires from discount tire and I took it to the dealer and got it aligned, they said that the alignment was fine but they still charged me. Last week I had the tires rotated and I noticed that the rear wheels are the ones that are causing the uneaven wear.
