89 Beretta GT rebuild (WIP)

Well, here's the latest with me. My 3-tone Mustang was the last thing I built and well, this is just a re-build of one of my old kits. It's an AMT 1988 Chevrolet Beretta GT model (extinct) and I kinda did some custom work with it when I first built it (T2 wing, window louvers, Blitz front bumper, Civic rear bumper, etc). But now, I made a custom body kit, converting it to RWD and dropping in a Camaro LS1 V8 in it. I have some pics of the kit. These are before sanding, and this is my first time using actual puddy. I hope you like it.

Any comments? I know I need to sand and add more putty to the front peices of parts tree I used and I need to re-do my side skirt design a little bit, but what do you guys think overall?

Re: 89 Beretta GT rebuild (WIP)

in the 6th pic down, you can see a little line I made in the putty. I sanded everything above that line so it's no-longer there. It looks much better sanded down, but I do still need to add more putty to the front of the kit. I'll get more pics when I get home from work right now, as being on here is probably going to make me a little late. I just wanted to update everyone (since this thread has been up about a half hour :roll

Re: 89 Beretta GT rebuild (WIP)

Update. I puttied the window louvers (where the actual thing meets the car) so it looks like it's molded right to the car itself. I also took off the wing and I'm experimenting with a smaller, "touring" type of a wing. If it doesn't quite work out, I'll just put this one back on (It was actually a little crooked anyways so it didn't really look right). As for paint, well....that'll be a little bit of a suprize. I will tell you this. The colors will be blue and black.

Re: 89 Beretta GT rebuild (WIP)

ok, Got some pics for ya. I filled in the gaps for the louvers and put on the other smaller more low-profile wing.

it's now sanded, cleaned, and ready for primer.

no no no no no. the wing out back actually will serve a purpose. If you read the first post, it will need downforce over the rear wheels because it will have a Camaro SS drivetrain (Meaning RWD) and a Camaro SS LS1 (meaning V8). The body kit, well, I'm just trying something out. This is mainly a test car for me. To practice my puddy skills and to give me an idea what to look for (kind of) when I attemp the rear thing in a couple of years (Meaning I'm going to try and turn a Chevy Beretta into an LS1 powered RWD street monster). Oh yeah, and that spoiler is scratchbuilt.

EDIT: the foglights are actually not suppsed to be like that. I origonally painted the car blue, and then later re-coated it in black. the glue ate away the black paint thus showing the blue (I did this model way before I even knew anything about models.

Re: 89 Beretta GT rebuild (WIP)

Looking good. You should level out the side skirt to match the front & rear kits.

Re: 89 Beretta GT rebuild (WIP)

the Beretta weighs in around 3,000 LBS and the Camaro around 3300. not a huge diifference, but enough.

Looking good so far!
