2004 WRX, 1st gear problem
Hey Fellas, just got a question that you guys may be able to help me with...
I've got a 2004 WRX, no mods. It appears that the 1st gear is pretty hard to get into unless you're at a complete stop. If I try to shift down into 1st going 10 mph, it just doesn't want to get into the slot. Anyone have a problem similar to this, and can you fix this problem?? |

it might have a syncronizer (sp?) that's keeping you from going into 1st. I have driven a WRX, much less a 2004, so I'm just throwin out a guess.

Welcome to Subaru ownership.
They all do that. Learn to double clutch or don't downshift till you stop. |

double clutching
Dude!! That's good stuf bro!
I was wondering if the 1st gear issue is a Subaru thing. I've driven Honda's and Acura's and I don't recall having a problem with downshifting into the 1st like that. I guess it prolongs the life of the syncro by not allowing me to downshift hard... (not that I'm trying to downshift hard anyway). |

why do all Subaru's have these problems is it maybe because of the Transmission on the Subaru?

Yea, the trannies are notorious for this. Put some better tranny oil in and it'll help with it a little.
