new to this group- which Impreza blue?

Hi I'm a new member here, from Israel, switching to modeling cars after a long period of building model-planes.

My first project is Hasegawa's Subaru Impreza, the problem is that Tamiya's spray paints are currently not sold in here (because of weird safety problems importing them) so I have to make my own Mica blue.

I have the 35%-35%-30% receipt for Mica blue, but I don’t like blending colors, especially when it involves 5 different types (if using Humbrol paints, which I do), I read somewhere that Humbrol metallic Baltic blue (number 52) is very close to Mica blue.

Can anyone confirm this ?

thanks !

Hi and welcome.

Which HGW Impreza are you working on? Rally or road? If rally, which year? The colours changed slightly over the years.

Most dramatic change was in 1997 when Prodrive opted to go to a metallic paint when the Impreza WRC was redesigned on the 2-door chassis.
Up till then, there were variants on gloss blue.

No it is definitely not ment to be metallic blue. As Ray said the metalic blue was only introduced in 1997 with the WRC. All Group A cars were solid blue, kinda dark with just a hint of purple to it.

Welcome to AF too

As Phil said, I already answered that question

Here is Ari Vatanen on the 1993 RAC Rally, as you can see, the paint is a blue gloss, not metallic.

and there is a bigger picture (bigger = 5 megabytes in size, or more) on www.swrt.com A couple of other pictures are there as well, but not too many from the 93 season. But you'll be able to see that the paint indeed is not metallic.
