[911 Tribute] Porsche 935 Moby Dick 1/24

Hi guys, this is my last work, a Tamiya 935-78 kit.
The kit is the last release, with new Cartograf decals.
It is a simplified model, designed as a battery powered kit altough no electric motor is provided.
The chassis is simplified, as the thre roll cage and the cockpit area.
There is no engine detail except what is molded into the chassis plate.

Anyway it is a good kit to have a break from multimedia kit.
I haven't used any aftermarket set, only photoetches recovered from other sets.

Let's start with the chassis.
In the plate are moulded the tubular structure, with its wrong design and dimension.
I gently remove the bars, and scratchbuild a new structure. Probably the shape is not 100% accurate, but it is enough close to the real one.

I added a scratch plate and support for the driving seat.

Re: [911 Tribute] Porsche 935 Moby Dick 1/24

I have added the structure for the shift lever, with the knob for turbo pressure setting and a couple of extinguisher.

Next step are the doors, I have replace the molded tube with a brass one and added the red ribbon used to unlock the door.

Then I focused on the dashboard, I have painted it black, detailed the indicator with spare decals (no decal for this part are provided in the kit) and added a drop of 2k clear to realize the indicators glasses.
I add also some labels (they came from a Lancia Stratos kit so they are in italian and not in doitch)

Now the interior looks like this

I paint the roll cage (it is incomplete, expecially in the front section)with Alclad steel; then I added the seat with seatbelts (the material come from MFH) and a scratch ventilation pipe.

Now it is time for wheels and rear bumper.

The rims are painted with Mp4/4 fluo red from Zero Paints, I have added scratch photoetc and a central hub from Top studio.
The Dunlop markings is painted with a photoetch template.

The bumper is painted with Zero black and I add few fasteners from Crazy Modeler and a scatch red fog light.

Concerning the body I re-scribe all the panel lines, sparayed a coat of Tamy white primer and two coats of Zero Pure White.
Before to apply the decal I spayed a coat of 2K clear from Lechler.
I polished the body with 2400 grit sandpaper and apply the decals.

The decal quality is excellent, they are thin but resistant at the same time, and it is important because it isn't so easy to conform the decal to the body curves.
The only cons is that under the martini colors there isn't the layer of white; so is important to not overlap the decals when you design the livery because the red became darker.

After the decal another coat of 2k clear.

Re: [911 Tribute] Porsche 935 Moby Dick 1/24

Concerning the body I made some modifications to enanche the realism:
I repalce the front plane lights with Hasegawa 037 lamps;
I create the front grille with fine metallic mesh from Detail Master and paint black;
I add some PE to the fuel and oil cap;
I create the bonnet fastener, killer switches and air compessed inlet with various PE and machined stuff;
I repalce the windscreen whiper with a PE one and the antenna with a turned one.

Finally I assembled the model.
