Ford Fiesta WRC Monte Carlo 2012 Latvala-Anttila

Hello from Belgium,
The last production of the dynamics Belkit's Belgian company, the Ford Fiesta WRC.I have to use the additive décals from Belkits for the version Monte Carlo 2012 of Latvala. Kit pleasant to rise in spite of some small errors, nothing very grave which can be easily resolved.
It remains to wait for the BEL0005 magnificent Skodia Fabia S2000

Re: Ford Fiesta WRC Monte Carlo 2012 Latvala-Anttila

Fantastic looking model and very nicely built, well done..!! The only thing I would say, and it's not in any way a criticism of your work, is that the decals are over complex on this kit and Belkits could have done them in a much better way than they did. As I mentioned in the other thread when this kit was first released, they should have made the sponsor logo's separate from the large areas of colour instead of printing them integral with the colour. Then the main colours could have been painted which would have yielded a better result than the decals. It is particularly evident on the sides and more so at the back, where there looks to be some fitment issues as I expected there would be. It's much too complex a body shell to be using decals for those large areas of colour and expecting them to wrap around all those complex curves without creasing and wrinkling.
Taking nothing away from your build though, you did a fine job, as good as you could have with the decals, I just wish that Belkits would listen to what people tell them. Sadly they never..

I find your comment a bit over the top.
I already have taken the comments about decals in my mind for our next kit, the Fabia S2000. and we will do it this way, since we will offer the green in spray paint or airbrush paint.
and about the 2012 version, you must know in the blue, black and even white areas of this car, there are some parts that are matt colored, can not be seen when car passes by, but when you look at pictures, you can see it.
So it was the only way to do it for this car.
And you must know, we always take peoples comment in consideration.
You must know we are only a very young company, and this was only our 3rd kit.
We ourselves have a lot to learn, and every kit, will have more improvements.
I think for only our 3rd kit, we have very good quality and price.

to nostalgicrally, VERY NICE JOB, congratulations. Keep up the good work.

I'm not actually criticising the quality of the kit, not at all, I think it's an excellent kit and very well detailed and produced. I'm only giving you a little feedback on what I think of the decals. Tamiya used to do the main areas as decals too, so no great difference. Except they did the sponsor logo's separate from the main colours to give anyone who wanted to, the option to use paint instead of decal. If you think my comments are over the top, then I apologise. However I was just offering some constructive criticism and didn't intend to offend you in any way...

Re: Ford Fiesta WRC Monte Carlo 2012 Latvala-Anttila

Nice build of the new Fiesta! I have this one in progress at the moment with the same decal set and I'm a little unsure how well the blue rear decals will fit together as there are a lot of complex curve to adhere to. I was thinking it might be safer bet to put a coat of blue paint on first and this might help especially round the wheel arch edges etc.

I hear what you are saying Steve but the decals do have a matt hex shape pattern on them which I think will be lost when the clear coat is put on.

I did have some trouble puting the suspension together and I would like to get a bit more negative camber on the wheels. Very minor criticism for a much welcomed new WRC kit. I'm sure Belkits don't have the resources that Tamiya have and the kit is very good quality and nicely moulded. My only gripe is the cost of extra decals. These seem to be very expensive compared with an initial kit purchase price but this is a generic comment. Some new Studio 27 decal sheets are getting very very expensive, especially when you add shipping on top.

Can't wait to get the Skoda although the metallic green will be a challenge!

I was unaware of the matt, hex shaped areas on the real car and now having done some research and looked at pictures on the web I can clearly see it, so apologies for my earlier comments. I just presumed it was all the same blue, black and white etc. Simple solution would have been to make the hex areas separate in a matt finish, on clear decal, so they could be added at the end after the main colours were on and clear coated, just a suggestion, not a criticism..

Re: Ford Fiesta WRC Monte Carlo 2012 Latvala-Anttila

Well, I learnt why hexagons white exist on the roof of the Fiesta, they are matt.
As for décals, the price is comparable to the best productions current and the quality and the ease of placement is excellent. Just a strip of blue color for alterations would have been good.
As for the communication with Belkit, I find it excellent and they are attentive to the concerns met by the fitters with the aim of always evolued for the next kits. Let us congratulate with daring what the others do not make.

To kaj45rpm: decals takes place carefree by using of the Microsol, they take well the forms.
To Steve Noble: Your remark is very good for hexagons matt

Re: Ford Fiesta WRC Monte Carlo 2012 Latvala-Anttila

Eric, nice build and model, and very good work on the carbon !
but why haven't you bent the hood grilles to fit opening correctly ??
it seems very strange like that...

I've also started one of my kits (WIP in link on belkit facebook page)
My main suggestion to Steven and Belkit is to please offer us some opened font face, especially when puttin all needed PE grilles inside the kit.
And also please don't reinvent rear wing fitting system and just try to find a correct way to assemble it.
Another thing nobody mentioned till now is the wheels width, its way to narrow to me, tires should be larger, I'm refering not only to comparison with other brands (hasegawa makes some mistakes) but to the pics I took of the cars on the rally events.
Tires design and cast are perfect so it's a pain there aren't wide enough to be perfectly accurate.

And all my encouragemenst for your next models !

Thank's Phil,Knowing the beauty of your kits, the compliment very pleases me.

The hood grilles were folded since photos, I preferred to bend once placed for more easy.
