VW Kübelwagen Type 82

As a big VW fan I needed to have a Kübel in my stash. I had this one already a while but now it's time to build it.

The model is made by Hasegawa and it's 1/24

I can't say how it will be in the end, cause the body is made of separate parts.... Here's a pic of all the parts in this kit. There are a lot of them

I want to lower it as much as possible and put some nice wheels on it. Something like Porsche Fuch's or stock T1 rims with. As long it fitts the aircooled style
I also don't know what color it will be. I'm thinking about gloss brown but something like semigloss green or grey would also look cool. Don't know yet.

Here are some inspiration pics of real cars. I know they are not type 82 but you got the idea I'm try to do.

Re: VW Kübelwagen Type 82

Here's the first update.

I started this afternoon with assembling some body parts.

The wheels will be Fujimi Fuch's wheels. The rear wheel has a bit wider lip so that's perfect. The wheels need new tyres cause the orignal are like balloons. The wheels also needs to be narrowed.

I'm liking the brown Type 181 on the pics above, so I think the color will be Brown. Not sure which brown I would use. I'm thinking about the X-9 Brown.

That will be a very interesting subject to follow for me
I really like the style you're going for and I'm sure it gonna be awesome when finished.
Personally, I would have painted it German Grey but XF-9 will also be nice. That's just my 2 cents

German Grey is also very nice, but I used that color already on a T1 bus so I wanted something else

Re: VW Kübelwagen Type 82

New update

I made some new tyres for the Fuchs. Now they have low profile tyres.

I also sprayed some primer on all bodyparts. It's smooth now so i can paint it soon!

Before I paint anything I want to lower the chassis. I hope to do that next week.

Re: VW Kübelwagen Type 82

I started painting the chassis. I used x-9 brown and clearcoated it with flat clear by Modelmasters. I also painted the engine. Don't detailed it but only some paint. It's not the best engine but I'm thinking about closing the engine trunk.

I also painted the bodyshell. Also clearcoated it with flat clear after adding a few decals.

The wheels got some brown paint too. I used HD 3D Porsche logo's on the centers.

Re: VW Kübelwagen Type 82

I've done a lot in the meantime.

First I have finished the chassis. I added the drumbrakes and glued the wheels a bit higher in the wheelarches to lower it.

I also painted the interior. Interior is a big word for this car, cause it's only some basis seats.

On the body I added some small parts. I also needed to add some rearlights cause in the kit nothing was included. I found some nice ones in my partsbox.

I only need to add the sidemirrors and need to add some wheatering on the chassis.

I like it, cool seeing something different. You said you made the tires and it looks like you can see a faint split in them. What did you do to make them? The only thing I would have liked to see is rework the hood with the ridges or maybe put a Fuchs up there.

I just cutted some tyres in pieces to fit the trimmed Fuchs. And i dont have any fuchs wheels at the moment to put on the hood so i used the original wheels instead.

That's fine, it still looks cool as it is.
