Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
For the assembly is taken, resin kit from Hobby Design.
HD03-0068 1 / 24 Audi TT Super Detail Set Long ago to him watched, but was disturbed by the price, but my wife gave a good and confusion has passed. Because now quite a bit of time, decided to make it to quickly, without any modifications - out of the box. To start a small survey. The set comes in a thick cardboard box. ![]() Inside box: Seat. Detailing is excellent. ![]() Door. Made opening. According to him immediately evident that the basis for making was diecast. ![]() Vacuum formed windshield and rear window. Plastics approximately 0,4-0,5 mm, no defects. ![]() 3rd door. Theoretically, it can make an opening, but because tailor it fine, but the resin does not like this, it must be reinforced and or to give the desired curve, or stick tightly (I chose the second option). ![]() Glass headlights and side-rear windows Interior. A little unclear, but it's easily curable with polish .. ![]() Lights (front, rear, fog), grille, mirrors, handbrake, steering wheel. ![]() "Bath interior" ![]() Bottom. With quite clearly tailor imitation hoses, exhaust, suspension, protection and so on. There is no bubbles. One disadvantage, inherited from diecast got two holes for bolts, exactly in the middle. ![]() 2 sheets of etching ![]() ![]() Wheels. Rims have very good quality, rubber is so-so, very soft (like silicone), but it keeps well, casting defects is not noticeable, but have a little bit treacherous shiny. ![]() The body is made very well, no strain. All lines are smooth and clear. ![]() Dashboard. There is one small influx and a small seam. ![]() Trunk, needed if done with opening the third door. ![]() Even small things (gear stick, muffler, calipers, rear shelf, axis). It is seen that the wheel is proposed to plant on the metal axle. ![]() Assembly process. Has attached the third the door. ![]() ![]() ![]() Because the door is not tight and slightly arched, during makeready, I was dripping point super glue and carefully shape her body to align - pasted. Then almost leveled with sandpaper and cut again lines. For the first time in my life met with the art of cutting vacuum formed windows. ![]() Vacuumformed windows pleased its hardness and ease of handling. Well, the body in the primer coat (second layer) ![]() Here's another thought, inside the roof a little bit of something bad. ![]() I've got a paint Finisher's Deep Red ![]() Photos can never pass the real color. The latter probably closer to the original. It is true that color, and in reality, strongly changes the tone, depending on the lighting. ![]()

Re: Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
Well... how should I put this?
You could have saved yourself the awful lot of money this kit costs and a lot of time cleaning up the parts and painting them... by just buying the original (red) diecast in the first place. I don't see it as a sensible choice to buy something in resin form that is easily available in (an already nicely detailed) diecast form for about EUR 15,- But to each his own, I guess |

Re: Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
What follow is an answer to the release of this kit and not to your build, but I can't contain myself seeing such thing "made" (what did they made ?? byuy a Diecast and cast it !!??) by a resin and PE kit/sets maker.
That's one of the most supid thing I've ever seen in modeling... Buying a kit to get a 100% copy of a diecast has no sens, neither like buyer nor than seller !!! nobody can't really blame you for buying it but seriously think to it a few seconds... I bought the original diecast for 11,99 euros aiming to try the HPA twin Turbo conversion, I disassembled the model and get exactly what you have in the kit... Or contrary is better to say things, Hobby Design put casted 100% exact and pirated parts in a kit sold more than 100 euros (??) !!! but to get what more than the diecast itself ?? Nothing !! Even the ugly toy-like opening door system was copied like it was !! And PE set could have been made alone... Hobby Design are clowns to me with that kit release and I really hope they feel ashamed !!! They would better release new PE transkits for last news instead of copying diecast. If I want a Diecast I buy a Diecast, at a Diecast price !!! And after that some still wonder why some brands end to disappear ?? |

Re: Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
Honestly i'n not keen on HD transkits or kits whatever, their resin is not the best and also they don't care too much if the parts fits or not.
I think you should did a pré build before paiting, you know try the chassis to see if it really fits.. windows.. lenses.. etc.. You're a doing a very nice job i would go with another more traditional color but it's jut my choice. Good lucky ..i'll follow this thread.. for sure |

Re: Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
Hope the build goes well. Some interesting views on Hobby Design, i have a few of their photoetch parts for some of my models but haven't tried them yet. Haven't considered the a full blown resin kit yet, always been put off by price and lack on modelling ability.

Re: Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
![]() Thanks for sharing this kit. I agree with others, and you can tell that it is a recast from a diecast by looking at the door hinges. Either way keep us posted. Although i think many people buy these kits so that they don't have to go through stripping everything on a diecast. Also if mods are taken, a lot easier to do with resin than metal. Good luck although i would've like to see it in a different color. |

Re: Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
Nice work! I am sure it was a lot of headache working with resin. I casted some exterior parts myself out of resin and man was I bothered with so many tiny pin hole bubbles! The rare subject of this build totally drew me in the thread!
I havent seen the diecast version of this car stripped, but would there be a chance HD cleaned up the exterior details (panel lines, rough surfaces, etc) at least a little? It just seems too much of a rip-off if they literally recasted everything without extra work. I am sure the windows have been redone because I would expect those clear parts off the diecast be well over a millimeter thick, not the 0.4-0.5mm the OP gets in his T-kit. The door hinges, on the other hand, are a little too big to tolerate IMO. |

the resin part is exactly sized as the one of my metal model (see below). the front window fit because it's vacuformed and allow adjustment. Side windows are exactly same as in the metal model... Quickly taken few minutes ago to answer in this post, here are some views of my model and work so far. (front bumper lip and its openings redone, opening of bumper holes and intakes, rescribing and regraving some panel lines, sanding the body... now ready for body kit modifcations). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That's sure that the main advantage of the resin kit is to simplify modification work like regraving or sanding, or holes opening... But either I'll do the job though with this metal model, for 10 times cheaper... Everyone choses his own preference, work seen in this thread is great and model will be great for sure, and for some of us nothing can be compared to a resin kit build, no matter if it's a diecast piracy recast. I personaly must be between these two extremities, I prefer building resin kits than modifying diecast, but sometimes resin kits don't worth the challenge and diecast do. ![]() to each of us to judge now. Re: Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
I feel a little responsable for the die-cast modelling morbo..after my BMW.. LOL
New generation die cast are really welldone, just the assembly and the paint are terrible (items of 10 dollars..wonder the starting production cost somewhere in china,if there is a cost..). I still dunno the sense of this audi in resin, also if u are making a nice model

Re: Audi TT (1/24 Hobby Design)
Selling it for a higher price is one joke, the other joke is that they are marketing it as a 'detail set' whilst it is actually a 'full kit' that needs no donor kit!
