Re: Porsche 917LH Gulf

Hi Denilson,
I'll definately be following along with this one as I have the Martini long tail in my stash. I also have the Gulf version but not for long as it is currently on ebay!
You did a nice job on the wheels, hope the rest of the build goes well.
Regards,
Steve.

Re: Porsche 917LH Gulf

Hi denilsonvm,

I am very much looking forward to watching your WIP! I am currently awaiting this kit to arrive in the mail , and I definitely plan to build it as Siffert/Bell's #17.

And thanks much for the great photos.

Re: Porsche 917LH Gulf

Looks good so far. You picked the car that is hard to do. The black dividing line is missing from the decals. Fisher has added photoetch and better tires to this kit since its last production a few years ago. I like the front of the body and nose better than on the Lemans Miniatures kit.

Re: Porsche 917LH Gulf

Tom,

You're right about the pinstriping for the #17 car, which I was aware of from the Porsche issue of the old MRRN magazine. But unless you happen to be a die-hard Rodriguez fan, how could anyone choose the #18 over the #17, as the #17 scheme is so much more attractive? . Unless you are lucky enough to be able to afford to build both... Unfortunately I am not, and I struggled for some time trying to decide whether to order the Gulf or the Martini version from Fisher. But the 36 years of looking at that fantastic double-page spread of the #17 in Jesse Alexander's "At Speed" book finally decided me.

And yes, I do realize how old that must make me .

This weekend I'll post the recent pictures of this build.

Re: Porsche 917LH Gulf

You' ve made a great start on a brilliant kit of the really gorgeous racers - really looking forward to seeing it come together - GULF colors, - just something about them when put on a Porsche!
Best of luck with it,
Regards,
Paul

Re: Porsche 917LH Gulf

This Fisher model comes with a very very very simple interior. I tried to improve a little but details won't be visible when finished, so I didn't waste much time here.

Real car

My model

Had to fix the naca ducts and rear valance

Re: Porsche 917LH Gulf

Hi denilson! Just hoping that everything is going OK with your 917LH, as has been a while since your last WIP post. I'm really looking forward to your progress on this kit, especially since I broke down and ordered the Martini version to go with the Gulf one I also bought. What you have posted so far looks great!

Hello Cameron! Good to know that you like this thread! I've been very busy at work and had no time to build the models. Beyond this model I'm building another 6 that you can look at the "WIP - Street". Although I'm not building, I'm buying more and more
