Audi sport quattro
Hello! It is one more great rally car Audi In my collection.
In the end of 80 years I had a videocassette with a film about sports cars. There there were different interesting moments of a car racing. I most of all liked the moment when Lancia 037 jumps in running up spectators. And short not the beautiful white-yellow car passes turns of mountain road in drift, leaving wide black traces on asphalt. Then I had a Czechoslovak magazine with photos and the technical story about this car.Sport Quattro I liked to be pleasant even more. ![]() ![]() I have bought this set on eBay.It is a copy of a set from Reji.At that time it was the unique variant of model of this car.At the moment I would buy Ken's set. Quality of the complete set on very average level: ![]() Many details are made of white metal. I have begun work with body correction. ![]() ![]() I have cleaned very big thickness: ![]() ![]() Has started to correct a curve back part. ![]() ![]() For manufacturing of this complete set used model Tamiya. Therefore the roof is made very short. And a windshield inclination too not the correct. I have pasted a slice for reception necessary roofs are long. ![]() ![]() ![]() My friend has made to me one body of our set.And I have replaced a back cover. ![]() The forward grid was not correct.I cut out it from a body and have altered. ![]() I have tried on the bottom part with wheels. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() While I like result. In the course of assemblage still there will be difficult moments. Thanks you. |

Hi Roman,
here are a few pics of the Sport Quattro which entered the historic part of 2010 German Rally. I wouldn't swear it's a fully original one and not a replica, but some things can be usefull in building the scale model. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Air ducts, falling from air intake in rear wheel wells... ![]() ... joining in the middle of the car, under spare wheel (when there, wasn't in this case) and above transmission they cool down through body frame. ![]() Not sure fire extinguisher is where it was supposed to be in original car, but historic car have to use modern rules security systems as belts, seats etc... this may be part of it. Hopping this may help ![]() You have a lot of courage to modify this poor Reji replica when Scale Production release a nice kit (I still have to order not to miss it BTW...!! )I'll follow it as the A2 Quattro. |

Hi Roman,
Impressive start... I like the way you update this not great resin kit. Which rally you choose? Maybe Acropolis??? Good luck until the end... |

Re: Audi sport quattro
Thanks you Guys !
Phill Thanks you for photos. It is very interesting.I have noticed that a lattice in a back part as at S1.On other cars I did not see such.Probably each of constructed Sport Quattro has differences from others. It is "the day off" project, it moves slowly enough. |

Re: Audi sport quattro
Hi Roman,
You do some quite impressive and detailed work! Really like it. Because you modify de body in such a detailed way, I just had to point something out. On the original Sport quattro rally cars, the front grille with headlights was similar to the one on the street versions. Some have small closed rectangle areas in the lower corners and some haven't. The headlights should therefore be bigger and less square. On your model, they are really square. The car you posted pictures of has the grille of the S1, so not original for the Sport quattro. Here are some pictures to illustrate that: Street version: ![]() Original rally version: ![]() ![]() ![]() "Your" version (I think it's the 1985 hillclimb version): ![]() S1: ![]() I hope it's a bit clear what I mean with this... If I spoiled the thread with these pics, please tell me and I will take them down. good luck with your awesome work!! |

Re: Audi sport quattro
Too BVR:
Thanks you.I have understood your thought with headlights. This car really has many differences, not visible from the first. Certainly I need to choose some photos of race and precisely to follow them. Your photos are very interesting to me. Thanks. I planned to use headlights from Tamiya. But now I see that they will be small. |

If you want to make the original rally version, you should make it with the bigger headlights, like the ones in Rallymaster's post. The smaller headlights are incorrect for the rally version. |

Re: Audi sport quattro
Roman, talk to Mike (Scale Production), he has the correct headlights in his transkit.

Re: Audi sport quattro
I really like your audis. Im a fan of volkswagens, and audis are in the family. This one is no exception. Good luck, the rear grill came out really good.
One question, can you tell me where i can find any audi transkits or kits? I know about the scale production kit, but where can i find the other ones and who makes them? |

The second complete set is Reji, but it not correct. On rally of the Audi I think are noteworthy: Gr4 - Tamiya kit GrB A2 - Renessans transkit for Tamiya (Or my fuller set) GrB Sport Quattro - Scaleproduction transkit for Tamiya GrB S1 - Profil24 kit |
