Mercedes Benz SLR 722GT

Tamiya SLR base + Hobby Design Transkit, didn't managed to make a 100% accurate replica as i wasn't paying attention and didn't notice there are air channels on top of the trunk until i am 95% done with the kit. Any how, i am happy with the overall build. Enjoy!

in addition to the transkit;
- ditched the transkit hood (resin shrunk, too small to fit) and modified the one from Tamiya
- ditched the transkit rear spoiler (wrapped) and used the from a 1/24 Porsche 911 GT1
- tow hooks
- roof Antenna
- duck tail on the trunk
- Michelin tire decal

That come out beautiful, I too want to build this car but because of the problems with the traskit is probable that all the modifications will be made in plastic and putty in the future.

Again superb job in dealing with the transkit shortcomings, your modifications made the model look even better, I love this car!!!

Re: Mercedes Benz SLR 722GT

Great job. I used to have the HD kit and know how much of a pain it is.

Meko Models has a sort of "half" transkit (the Meko one doesn't include the interior parts). I wonder how that one compares to the HD one.

For the exterior parts the Meko Models seems to be a lot better. got 2 tk of both for my future GT1 project. The both differ a bit, the rear bud end is lower which also makes a lower diffuser on this one, the Meko has both higher. The Meko Model also has the louvres on the hood above the wheels, where the area on this one has only the panel lines.
