Connector to the Alternator Broke and I cant determine what color wire goes where
The plastic male connector that connects the three wires to my alternators females connector is shot and it broke into pieces a while ago. I have tried to make sense of the wire diagrams to see which of the three colored wires connects where. I have been driving around a while with them set where I thought they where sup to be with the battery light always on, along with the light indicating my tail lights are out when they are not. So today I decided to mess with it and get these lights off. The plastic male housing is gone but the three little wires still have their connectors on there and can be connected to the alternators female connectors. There is a red-blue wire, a yellow wire, and a white wire. I can not figure out the diagram in the hanes manual to see where which on goes where, or the one from toyota.
If I connect the red-blue wire first on the left connection facing the alternator from the drivers side, then the yellow in the middle, then the white on the right the battery light will go off, along with the tail light indicator light going off. The only thing is it wont flash on for a second, then off when you start the car, isnt it sup tp. If I switch the wires to another configuration I can get the same thing, but the one I had before the battery light comes on and stays on. Can some one make sense of this picture, I cant attach it because it is too large but if you email me at [email protected] I will send a JPEG of it |

Re: Connector to the Alternator Broke and I cant determine what color wire goes where
Here is another diagram
http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/p...agramcamry.jpg I am guessing number 3 on the diagram of the male connector is the white wire, number 2 is the red-blue, and number 1 is he yellow. Because in this diagram it shows the G2 is the male connector and G1 is the ground wire or the wire that is bolted to the top, am I right? Isnt the battery light sup to flash on for a second when you first start the car? Thanks ahead of time guys |

White - blue/red - yellow, front to back.

Are you certain of this, and how much before I do this, not to question your knowledge.

Re: Connector to the Alternator Broke and I cant determine what color wire goes where
Ok now I have the alternator set up right and the battery light still won't go off. I tested the voltage regulator and it's fine. It's seems when seiches the wires to the alternator around and the battery light went off as week as the warning light for the lights in the back of my car as if the are realted to one another. I hate electrical problems.

Re: Connector to the Alternator Broke and I cant determine what color wire goes where
Double check the fuses aren't blown and none of the wire terminals are touching each other. Use some good heat shrink wrap on each one. If not, then have the alternator and voltage regulator tested.
