REWARD: New badge . . .
I hear that there's a new Nissan logo in the pipeline . . .
Has anyone else heard that? Has anyone seen it? The first person to find it and bring back a picture of it will be given 50 smilies . . . |

I've never heard of this, but it could very well be true, with all the recent reformation.
I sure hope this never happens, since I've always respected the fact that Nissan has stuck to its heritage. An introduction of a new sign is a sign of submission to marketing. Mazda's new signs didn't do much, other than confuse the consumers. I don't know if many of you have noticed, but it seems that Nissan's most recent emblems have changed--ever so slightly. The rectangle where the name NISSAN is engraved in is not as wide as it used to be. It used to extend past the circle significantly, but now it nearly lines up with it. Another way to look at it is the circle itself has gotten larger, while the rectangle has remained the same size. |

Interesting Morph . . .
I never noticed the badge shift . . . I suppose that's the way they intended it to happen, ever so slightly so that the public was relatively unaware? Thanks for that insight . . . I still want to see the "new" badge . . . I read about it in an article about the new Maxima . . . Could just be shoddy journalism . . . |

I already described it.
But the possible new emblem i_rebel is referring to sounds completely different. |

That's the whole idea: subtlety. The mass won't see it, but they will feel a subliminal feeling of change, nonetheless.
Below: a comparison |

Actually, doing something radical to a company's logo is precisely something that shouldn't be done. It shows that the automaker has given in to the world of marketing. What would you think if your home country suddenly up and went to redesign its national flag just to stir publicity?
Take a look at Mazda. Did the new "M" emblem help? This wasn't the only sign change in its history. There was also the one that preceeded it which was created after the first lettered emblem seemed aged. Now consumers are even more confused, especially with the buyout from Ford. They should have stuck to their roots. People shouldn't forget: Something far different doesn't necessarily mean that it is far better. Just look at the rice rockets. The owners will do ANYTHING to make their cars stand out of the crowd. Now they just look like one big messy crowd. There is no better image than timelessness. Everthing else is just a fad, trend, whatever you want to call it. |

Some countries are still a little behind (but that's only because they haven't received all the new car models yet). As most can see in North America, we're getting the new cars with the new emblems at a steady pace.
