Post BuildyourownP10frontkit

Here's a little info for anyone who wants to build their own front end.

I've found that the Accord (91) front kit fits the P10 very well.
The best way to get the closest fit (without major modification) is to
buy one that is square.

This list covers everything you need to make a one-piece front end:

Dremel w/cutting bit (Rotozip works even better)
#40, #80 grit sand paper
C-clamps (if attaching grill to kit)
Fiberglass resin (with chopped strand)
4 bendable (aluminum bars)@18 inches long
2 bars@10 inches
6 sets of 1 inch bolts, locknuts, large washers
A resporator

Start by removing your stock front end and grill. Once removed compare the top bumper lip to the kits lip. Use the Dremel to cut off any tabs or protrusions that won't let the kit fit snug. (It's snug when the fender-lines match the kits lines) My B.W. kit required that the vents below the headlights be cut back 2 inches because of clearance problems with front bumper.

Buying a kit with large front-vents will cause lots of extra work unless you want to remove your front bumper. (not recommended)

Any imperfections or mistakes can be filled in using fiberglass. Try to mix small quantities at a time. That way you wont get stuck trying to apply dry resin. (the better the kit's match to the stock bumper the less mess)

Once the bumper slides on and fits snug it should be proped up in place. Step back and take a minute to look at all the body lines. If everything is satisfactory pop your grill back in. (search the forum if you want info on customizing the grill)

Take a black marker and trace the line at the bottom of your grill exactly onto the top of the kit. Now remove your grill and rough up the bottom with #40 grit. You will also need to remove the kit and rough up the top of it. Run a strip of tape in front of the grill on the kit, this way the surrounding area won't accidentaly get sanded on.

Next place your grill on top of your kit and center it on the line. Make sure everything looks right. Get your clamps ready start mixing some fiberglass(strand). Goop some glass on the bottom of the grill and attach it to its spot on the kit. Use your clamps to smash the two together. Any excess resin oozing out can be wiped away. Give it at least a couple of hours before unclamping.

Your almost done :ylsuper

After removing the clamps the kit should fit your p10 nicely.

Note: if you are using a OEM grill you will need to cut the 4 plastic snaps off

Use the bars to make supports for the kit. The 4 long ones are for front and bottom/side support. The 2 ten inch bars are to be connected at the stock bracket on the bottom front of the fender, and attached to the inner fender of the kit. To do this it will need to be bent in the shape of an "L". With this setup I noticed absolutly no flex in my kit.

Sorry about the lack of pic's, i'll post bracket pics when I get my digicam back.

Well I hope this helps. If theres any info you think I missed, tell me.

Talking Easier way.....

If you want a easier custom one piece front end for the p10, just do what I did

Buy
Stillen Front bumper (for 99+p11)

Cut
stock bumper 2-3 in. down (a little above stock side marker lights)

Mold
stillen bumper to upper portion of stock bumper (various adhesives)

prime and paint

Requires no modification to stillen bumper

Pics have been posted on here a few times.

Just my 2cents

Stillen is easier, but you get no variety.

True, True

But the job was pretty easy, and it looks pretty good

I would like to see your project when completed, it sounds like it will be pretty unique.

Project

My front end has been on my car for about 6 months now. Other projects include a one-piece Altima front kit using the Stillen lip (shaved bodyline, lip-kit,turn signals, and 91 Integra clear corners). Molds were made of both, so I can make as many copies as I want.

I am not sure about the rear end of the P10, but I'll find out.

I went out a purchased a 90-93 big mouth front bumper for an Accord. I have my G20 bumper removed and need to campare the stock bumper to the new one. In your instructions you state "Once removed compare the top bumper lip to the kits lip".

Do you match the stock bumper to the inside of the new one or to the outside?

You also warned not to purchase a kit with large front vents. Would this include the Big mouth?

IF could you provide any additonal details or pic it would be helpful.

PS what about the rear bumper?

Don't put one bumper inside the other, try to recreate the stock bumperline on the kit. If done right you will be able to slide the kit underneath the headlights, and have little/no gap problems.

Big Mouth can work, you might have alot of shaving to do. A good idea is to just run mesh and paint your crash-bumper black.

Heres the line you want to achieve.
