exhaust
Ok I went to an exhaust shop here in town im really good friends with. I talk to them about gutting my cat and pre cat and adding straight pipe all the way back (3 inch piping, no mufflers). They told me they did not want to mess with a 3000gt afraid of doing something wrong. But they did say they would gut my cat and pre cat and replace it with a straight pipe. So now my question, how will the sound and performance be from gutting both cats? Im thinking I wont even want an exhaust after i gut them. I am guessing i will get lots of power and good loud powerhouse sorta noise. Am i fooling myself? and also, will emissions, like sensors and all be a problem when they gut those? Cuz on my focus they wouldnt gut my cat cuz the sensor on it.

Re: exhaust
I think you should do ti all yourself since its pretty easy, just have them make a testpipe to replace your cat. What year and trim do you have? I think some higher flow mufflers would be a good idea if your removing the origionals. It will probably be louder but not lower (especially if youtake the mufflers off, if you get good high flow mufflers should lower the tone a bit but a 3" diamiter would realy help creat that deap resonaiting sound people love.

Re: exhaust
i have a 94 SL , so i should get a test pipe put on to replace the cat and pre cat? so then i should run 3" pipes all the way back and put some aftermarket mufflers on? Or could i just the leave the stock mufflers back on and run them with the straight pipe?

either or?!?! whatever you want to do...if you dont have the cash, just have the muffler shop build you the test pipes to replace the whole midsection....and the bolt your stock cat-back back on. when you get the money, just buy a cat-back system and you will be ready to go.

Re: exhaust
can anyone get me a diagram of the stock exhaust system on an SL? I would really appreciate it. Im thinking about running two seperate 2.5 inch straight pipes from each header and crossing it into an h pipe.
