Re: s2000 or mazdaspeed miata

I've driven both (S2000 on an AutoX, the Mazdaspeed at Rev It Up)

I would MUCH rather have the Miata. The linear acceleration and almost "Perfect" handling were just a blast to push, the car made me look good.

With the S2000 i felt like I shoulda been on a wider track, 24/7. I dont like the feeling of the car's handling while on throttle... but thats just my opinion...

from what i've seen .

when the cars are both at there limit ,the S2000 puts down faster times.
from what i understand the Fastest Miata at Streets Of Willow,Willow Springs,puts down a 130:1.the Fastest S2000,puts down a 125:x.(cw w/bowl)

http://www.speedventures.net/event_results.asp
choose : 7/11 SOW event
here is the fastest miatas time, along with another very fast miata(mr.Goodwin).there only a few cars faster .one is an average fast S2000.
theres even a very fast NA time.

Re: s2000 or mazdaspeed miata

Ive driven both cars on the track and the mazdaspeed is a nicer car for the money for sure... although... there isnt as much of a market for the mazdaspeed miata because they havent been out long (understanably)... my family loved our first 91 miata that we looked into the mazdaspeed.. fell in love with it... got 8 thousand off the MSRP and bought 2... ive just talked to my local shops about helping me with the mod's message me if youre interested with how it goes...

(damn the vortec supercharger for the S2K 345hp)

Re: s2000 or mazdaspeed miata

The MSM is ok, but I eat them for breakfast on and off the track. The S2000 is a better looking car but has higher insurance costs and you have to be very careful with F/I. Stock to stock the S will eat the MSM up on an open track and will have less issues. But go with an upgraded exhaust and IC from FM and throw in an oil cooler with 3 more psi, the MSM becomes a completely different animal on the track.

Re: s2000 or mazdaspeed miata

s2000 stock = ( faster, medium handling, medium braking, larger body )
ideal conditions = ( take offs, stretches, short runs )

msm stock = ( slower, high handling, high braking, smaller body )
ideal conditions = ( touring, curves, long hauls )

they are both great cars, if you wanna do nascar with them, the s2000 will eat the miata, if you wanna tour or f1 style track racing, the miata will eat a s2000.

I don't have facts to back this up, but from what I've read the s2000 is faster stock, however they are more limited in potential for upgrades and mods.

A supercharged Miata like mine will destroy an S2000 in every area.

The S2K is 11:1 compression, and has a narrow power and torque band.

My car makes more whp and torque, and is 500 pounds lighter.

Don't buy a Mazda speed Miata, buy a '99, and get a blower.
