Altezza RS200 question
Hi, I`m new here and have a question I hope someone can help me with.
I live in japan and am think about taking an Altezza RS200 back to Australia. My question, the RS200 is a 2.0 FOUR Cylinder. The IS200(Aus.model) is a 2.0 SIX cylinder. Does anyone know if there are the FOUR cly. versions in Aust? The six seems to be a lower tech. engine and is less powerful, over here its called the AS200. If I take back a RS200 will i have compliance problems, spare parts, emissons etc.? If anyone can help please I would appreciate it. |

Across the ditch (Tasman Sea) in Kiwi Land (New Zealand) we have the Lexus IS200 and IS300. We also import from 2nd hand from Japan the AS200, RS200 and Gita. The Aussies have a large car manufacturing industry and protect it by imposing heavy taxes on imports. A few die hard car nuts still do import from Japan (at inflated prices) so I would be very surprised if there was no support from your Altezza. At least you can get backup from NZ. With regards to compliance, your Altezza probably exceeds the emission quality of the locally manufactured stuff (Holden (GM) and Ford). We have very strict compliance measures here and we are importing them by the boat load. Try contacting an Australian based freight forwarding company like ICE (Internationl Cargo Express).
Good luck |

There are a number of RS200's in Australia, all private imports. Compliance difficulty is dependant upon who you go through, and what state you are in!
