01 takes spells of idling high

My van has recently took 2 spells of idling high. It starts while driving. I would pull up to a stop sign or something and would notice it would want to pull. When I would place it in park it would idle up to around 3000 rpms. once turning the van off and starting back it would be fine. I am curious as to what this may be. Also yesterday it took a spell of mising or something. I noticed it missing and looked at the tach and iot was jumping up and down. It did this for a few seconds and quit. Then later on it started again. I was able to pull off the road when it started and it died on me. I tried to start it back and could not get it started. Waited for a couple of minutes and tried again and it started fine. Any thoghts or suggetions on this? I am thinking it may be water in the fuel but I am not quite for sure on that. Thanks for the help.

Re: 01 takes spells of idling high

You may be having an IAC (Idle Air Control) fault. If diagnosed as so, clean the throttle body too.

Another culprit could be a loose or broken TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).

Ignition problems may be involved but I'm not too sure.

Lets see what our resident techs have to say.
