'99 Intrigue Doors coming falling apart.
Fellow Intriguers,
I'm having trouble with the plastic snap-on pieces of the doors coming loose. Both front doors house the speaker inclosures, and they are coming loose. Each one has about 2 of the little "clips" broken off. The pocket on the passenger door is a little loose. And now the panel with the window controls on the driver's door is coming loose. We are not a "door slamming" type of people. But any suggestions on fixing? thanks,

The best place to pick up those special clips is at the body shop @ the dealership.

Not really "clips" that are separate from the door pieces. They are clips molded as part of the pieces that are falling off.
But thanks anyway,

Can you provide a picture of what you are talking about?

LittleHoov,
Can't easily supply pictures, as I am not very computer savy. But because these little clips are breaking off of the panels themselves, I think my only viable solution is to use some "LiquidNails" on them. Steve

LOL - I was just thinking of that, I used a silicone sealant for broken electrical connectors.

Re: '99 Intrigue Doors coming falling apart.
If you're talking about the white round clips that hold the door panel in place , you can buy these at your local auto parts store ( i.e.- Autozone , Advance , etc. ) . Whenever you remove the door panel , you inadvertently will break one ( or more ) of these clips and the panel will not be secure without all the clips being in place . I'm not so sure about the " liquid nails " being very appropriate here ? If removal of the panel in the future is needed , I believe you would have a really big mess and the panel would have a lot of damage from trying to remove it !

suburbanstevie -
I know the clips you are talking about. GM tool two molded pieces and appraently sonic welded them together or something. The clips break and the joint seems to come apart. My Intrigue has the same problem. I'm just "dealing with it". If you know what kind of plastic the parts are made from, you can probably find a glue that will bond them toghether. Smitty's Buick |

Re: '99 Intrigue Doors coming falling apart.
I think I know what you're talking about as well. They're little plastic tabs which are partially melted down at the factory to lock things together. I've broken a few as well. They're very brittle, I think it's a stupid system.
Don't use liquid nails, it does not do well the extreme heat and vibration your car is subject to. Been there, done that. Use an epoxy. |

Re: '99 Intrigue Doors coming falling apart.
Use a few dabs of hot glue. It will "flex" a little and if you should have to remove the panel in the future it can be pealed away.
