Toyota GRS182 Crown 'Athlete'

Today I searched for a new project. I wanted to do a VIP car again, so my eyes felt on this beauty:

I never heard of this car, but looks great and it's the perfect base for a VIP car. The model is from Aoshima, so as usual the bumpers don't fitt very well.

Here's a quick look in the kit:

A VIP car needs at least 20'' wheels on it, so I searched for a nice set. I think these Leon Hardiritt Waffe wheels looks great!

And a quick dryfit with the wheels:

The color must be something special. Normally I like VIP cars in black or dark blue, but now I wanted to something else TS-60 Pearl Green would look nice I think.

The interior will be black and with some aluminium I think. The wheelcenters will be painted flat black.

Kris.

Yes, another cool project! I'm sure about the wheels, I also used this set for my LS600hL Lexus. As for the green body, I'm curious about the finished look of the body!

Re: Toyota GRS182 Crown 'Athlete'

New update:

I painted the body and his parts with 4 layers of Pearl Green.

After that I added the decals and added the bmf on the windowframes:

Now I have clearcoated it and I'll polish it sunday I think.

Re: Toyota GRS182 Crown 'Athlete'

aoshima i assume?

I have a GS300 'check shop' one. For some reason that interior and the one form the GS are 100% identical...

Nonetheless, looks like a great build. I have to paint the exterior on mine, its going to be a metallic red!

The pearl green and chrome look good together. I'm thinking like like oldschool muscle car, or lo-rydah.

Is it just me, or is "Crown Athlete" an amazingly lame name for a car? Something must have been lost in translation.

Looking good, and the wheels suit it perfectly.

Oddly enough, I really like the green paint on this car. Do we have a potential new trend in VIP here?

I like the colour - did you spray it directly over grey (or white) priner, or did you do a silver coat first?

Directly over the white Tamiya primer.

Re: Toyota GRS182 Crown 'Athlete'

I also polished this body this weekend.

After that I placed the sideskirts and frontbumper. Without the ligths the frontbumper fits good, but with the lights on it, it never fits anymore. I did a lot of changes on them but nothing works.... Now I just glued it with very strong glue, so it never falls of anymore. That gap between the fender and bumper is something I don't look at it anymore Stupid Aoshima kits with their shit fitment bodykits. (it's always the same...)

Re: Toyota GRS182 Crown 'Athlete'

The past days, I worked on the interior of this car.

I wanted something different, like the bodycolor, so I asked my mom to search some colors I had to use.

The main color is Flat Sky. The interiorflocking is green, and I used some aluminium and semigloss black for details.

After I completed the interior, I thought it was a bit boring. So I added some VIP gangster details on the interior.

Now back to the bodywork and start on the chassis.
