jdm or usdm engine?

which one would you guys choose? i know that the jdm has more hp but it's also not smog legal. are the jdm engines just better? or would a usdm one be just as good?

isn't this the great question it sucks how NO ONE KNOWS whats legal so jdm or usdam it's all about the same jsut try to keep it legit

yup, true, but if you want a b18c5(200hp not usdm) or a b16b then you're going have to get a jdm engine. also forgot to mention, also the jdm type s prelude engine.

since you're in cali...keep it legal and go w/ a usdm engine...sure, jdm engines have like 10 more hp....but who the hell knows how many miles are on em or where they came from. at least when you get a USDM engine, you're usually pullin out of the car and can see the odometer....I'm sure most JDM engines have at least twice the miles the importers advertise...plus, then you dont have to deal w/ trying to get your car through inspection...

how can inspectors tell if it is JDM or USDM?

yeah b/c i was thinking about that and realized that us USDM b18c1 and then there is the JDM B18C so that kinda gives it away

Yea but they can look up stuff just from the serial number on your block and pull up all the information i need to know. I called my dealer and he told me everything about my motor and how many miles, etc.
