Actaul Gas Mileage Numbers, Are These Right?

I've got an 07 Civic Hybrid. With careful driving, it's getting about 40.5 mpg. Seems low to me. Might this be because something is out of adjustment, or that all that can be expected from this car? What kind of mileage are you getting? I'm disappointed in the mileage, but like the vehicle quite a bit in all other ways.

thats about right actually. the epa miscalculated the mileage numbers, when the hybrids first came around, so 40 is about right.

Like I give a rats ass about emissions! If it where up to me I'd still be cruising in my '69 Mach I. I don't recall even thinking about milage on that one, but gas was a bit cheaper at the time.

I have a 2006 Hybrid. We average around 40mpg. I have gotten as much as 44.7mpg. These values are calculated, not with the indash mpg meter.

I will say tire pressure plays a huge role in your mpg. I check the tire pressure constantly. My wife will let me know when the mileage is a low, and when I check the pressure, sure enough the tires will be a little low.

depends on a lot of factors, using your radio and headlights will lower your mileage. u can be driving into the wind constantly, anything can cause low numbers

Re: Actaul Gas Mileage Numbers, Are These Right?

To start, I'm from Chicago...city of rapidly changing temperatures and moderate, but consistent amounts of wind. I drive a 2007 Civic LX 4door.

I used to regularly commute the 2.75hr drive to the Wisconsin Dells. On these trips, I hovered around 70mph. I would receive between 44 and 46mpg. Regular city and suburban driving nets a minimum of 33, max of 37mpg. I hate air conditioning, and the digital volume control on the radio is usually set around 10-15 volume level.

His figures don't seem too far off, then again, driving conditions may be slightly different, and hybrids, while they do net gains in MPG, they don't provide night and day differences in MPG. The savings would be an annual figure noticed from filling up 4/5ths as frequently.

Re: Actaul Gas Mileage Numbers, Are These Right?

I have a 2007 and was getting about 52 mpg when I bought the car, but it quickly dropped to 45 after they "upgraded" my computer program two years ago. It stayed at 45 mpg until the recent required "upgrade." It has been two weeks since the "upgrade" and I now get 38 mpg without any change in driving style since I bought the car. Not a happy camper.
