Painted?

I have some motegi 15" alloys. They are just the silver alloy. I want to paint them black. How would you go about painting a rim like that without messing it up? I want it to be a flat black color, no gloss. If you can help it would be really cool. Thanks.

Only good quality way is to get them powder coated.

Re: Painted?

I know powder coating would be nice, but I just need something temporary. What would be the best way to get a flat black myself?

I painted my stock EX alloys myself graphite. No chips or fades in over a year.

wash rim thouroughly.
sand entire rim with 320 grit paper...wipe with damp cloth
sand again with 400 grit paper...wash completely and let dry.

the paint i used required no primer or clearcoat. (Duplicolor wheel coating you can find at AutoZone)

insert index cards between rim and tire, use tape to wrap valve stem.
Spray on a VERY light coat at first, doesnt even have to cover entire rim, let dry 5-10 mins. Do this for every coat till it's as dark as you like.
Wait one hour before putting rim back on car.

Your done.

Re: Painted?

Thanks a lot. I guess The NotoriousMogg didn't see that I wanted to do it myself. I might try that. Thanks for the help.
