Question 05 2500 AC-Heater blower intermitent operation

2005 Dodge Ram 2500, Quad Cab, 4WD, 5.9 liter Turbo Diesel.
Problem is: Fan for heater/ A/C works intermittently. Additional info, either the fan works when engine is started or doesn't. That is to say that fan doesn't quit while running. I've checked fuses, turned fan speed control knob up and down, both while fan operating, and not operating with no change is status. And, wiggled key in ignition while fan was running with no loss. However, it seems that when engine is turned off, then restarted that sometimes fan fails to operate. Happened this summer during A/C usage. Hot and warm air come from vents as selected by dash control knob, just not with fan.

I read thru the threads back to late 2004. The only thing that caught my eye was something about a resistor or rheostat that is in line with fan control knob ? ?

Any assistance in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Winter is finally here in Northern California and now it is not just an inconvience, the windows are fogged/iced without the blower fan operating.

Update... Just found that my truck may have a "Blower Motor Resistor Module." Could this be my problem? If so, is it located on the engine compartment side of the firewall or within the cab?

hundahunta,

Thanks, I'll start there. Working at this moment. Who knows when it (fan) blower will fail again.
