Restored 25R Debuted, F1 Certification Program Announced
During some casual browsing, a Road & Track headline stating "McLaren F1 GTR #25R Restored" popped up in my search results. Apparently MSO has been busy the last 18 months doing a ground-up rebuild. The debut of the finished car also coincided with the announcement of something called 'F1 Certified', of which 25R is the first to be approved. This paragraph from McLaren's press release summarizes things well:
"...the F1 Certified programme has been developed to guarantee the authenticity of both road and track versions of the Le Mans-winning supercar, offering ultimate peace of mind for current and future owners. A unique Certificate of Authenticity – which McLaren Automotive is the only body in the world able to issue – authenticates a car’s provenance, originality, service life, road/race history and condition. Conformity with the original specification and to any McLaren-sanctioned upgrades is confirmed by reference to the factory archives. Along with the certificate, owners receive a bespoke illustrated book documenting the history of their car." The entire press release can be found here:Official McLaren F1 certification service announced... |

Sounds like the Ferrari Classiche money grab, which makes no sense to me. The factory restoration aspect is what's more important and a good thing to have for these cars.

Having seen the progress of #25R, its a really really good example of how to do a fantastic paint job.

If this somehow leads to more cars going back to original spec then I'd be happy.

Did anyone else spot 07R in Kidston's latest instagram video?

Re: Restored 25R Debuted, F1 Certification Program Announced
LOL look at that laptop sitting on the rear quarter of 25R. Does the original laptop still need to be used? Can't they make some kind of emulator to run on a modern system and have a cable to match whatever pins the old stuff used?
Also nice to see 7R back in original livery. I never liked any of those LM-look GTRs... |

I understood 08R had been re-liveried and totally forgotten about 14R
