Traded in my 2001 A4 for 325I
Boy I am glad to trade in my A4 for a 325I. The 325I handles much better than the A4. Both 2001 model.
BTW does anyone know what kind of ECU ship I can change out for my 325I?? Thanks |

You cannot buy a replacement chip for 96+ BMWs... There are two options.
1. Remove the computer and send it away to get reprogrammed, the car will be undriveable until the computer is reinstalled $399 2. Buy the programmer, plug it in and push the button to reprogram the chip $399. http://www.activeautowerke.com/softw...i-software.asp http://www.dinanbmw.com/html/325-e46/e46-325_soft.htm http://www.bimmerforums.com

I just traded my 98 Audi A4 2.8 for an 01 325i and i absolutely love it. It's almost like night and day. Audi's are still nice cars, but no match for BMW. This is one decision I won't regret.

The only choice...
You made the right decision. BMW sets the standard and all the other manufacturer's try to keep up. I got my first bimmer in 97'. i got the 328is with sport package brand new in black. Just before my lease was up, some jerk rammed into my passenger door. I turned in the damaged car and (at the time) I couldn't afford to buy or lease another one. i ended up with a 97' Ford Expedition. Big mistake! My financial situation got better within the past year and I traded in the Expedition for another (pre-certified) 97' 328is (This time I'm financing). Same exact car I had on my first BMW purchase except that it's silver and the cd changer.
As soon as I got in the car, I felt like a person who's been lost and has finally found my home again. I didn't even realize how much I missed this car until I got behind the wheel, engaged the clutch and shifted out of 1st gear. Yes Audi tries but BMW still leads the pack with everyone trailing behind trying to figure out what BMW's secret is. Passion. Good luck with your 325. Do you get it in a stick? sport package? With a sport package the handling is like night and day. Or upgrading to performance shocks and struts. What color? |

Me too!
I had a 1998 323i coupe with an automatic. I just traded on a leftover 2001 325i with a five speed. As nice as the coupe was, it's like BMW reinvented the wheel or something. I looked at the new A4 but the BMW is WAY better than anything I have ever driven. It's fairly unique as 325s go, I got the Siena Red, Black Leather with the premium package...Fantastic car, I can safely say that all other things being equal I can't see myself driving anything but a BMW for a long, long time.
Enjoy, Josh |
