Question For people with alarms

My installer didnt put in a hood switch and I need to hook it up my self. Where do they normally put the system controler for civics. I need to access a wire from it. I'll just call the place if knowone knows.

they usually put it under the panel right under the steering cloumn, or in some cases they can put it under the carpet to the left of the brake or clutch pedal. to get to it if its under the panel there are 3 screws holding it up and when you get those out there will be two 10mm bolts on each side of the metal piece. just take those out and if its under there you'll see it.

that daniel guy whose accord we fixed said hed help me wire the trunk when he was over last night ... anyways, the cheap route was worth it in this case, would have cost me $300 for that same alarm in the bay area, modesto owns!

The module for the alarm should definately be behind the panel that is below the steering column. A good installer will hide this module as well as possible so you might have to look around. Most of the time on a regular alarm I dont put a hood pin switch on it just cause it's not necessary. You cant get the hood open unless you are in the car anyway so whats the point? I would hope that if somebody was in ur car the alarm would go off anyway. I guess the only point would be if you're using some other hood latch besides the factory one. Also where i work hooking the alarm up to the trunk will cost ya more just because this involves running wires to the back of the car lots of times which can be just a lil time consuming.

actually, I have a 2-way LCD display alarm, so when the hood or trunk's open it will show me. It's not that important, but I still want it done. Anyway, since you have experience, I need to hook up a wire to the pin switch but the wire is so wrapped up in el. tape I can't get to it. This wire is also going to the trunk switch, which the place did do. Do you think it is ok if I splice into it right at the begining, which is the only place I can find it. Or do you think it will short circuit or something. P.S. The want $35 to wire that.

i think hood locks would work better than just wiring an alarm up to it.
i know it does'nt have much to do with the thread but it's an idea for anyone who's alarm isn't hooked up to there hood.
