Need Help on a weird issue
1999 Lincoln Continental.....sat for about a year in a enclosed garage. Before it was parked the vehicle was in perfect condition. I bought the car and charged the battery and it would not start. I discovered that the fuel pump was out. Replaced the pump and the car started right up.
I started noticing that the digital display would flicker sometimes but was only doing it to the speedometer area, everything else was fine. I would notice that sometimes it would come on and stay on and times where it would just stay off. One day I was sitting in my driveway and the dash flickered and smelled a burning wire and the whole dash display went out and blew a fuse. Weird part was that I also lost power steering. I put new fuse in and it would immediately blow. I put a larger fuse in and everything would come on and my steering would return to normal. I cant leave the fuse in because it starts to smell like burning wire. I think that the car sat for so long that a mouse has chewed a wire somewhere and I cant figure out where. Any thoughts or ideas? |

Re: Need Help on a weird issue
I can't give any insight on where your problem is located but yes it sounds like some wires got chewed. Also don't run with a bigger fuse unless you have insurance because you will start a fire.

Re: Need Help on a weird issue
It can be a wiring issue, please check your wires attached with fuse box. Fuse Box is heart of vehicle's electrical system.
