rookie help
I am very interested in purchasing a datsun 510. I am looking for advice on what to look for in a vehicle i'm going to buy, and also what are typical problems with the 510. Is there a more prefered year? Is it expensive to insure? Any information would be extremely helpful. Thanks to all who reply!

You want to look for rust on the shock towers, if they are very rusty then I would reccomend either not buying the car, or buy it and immediately take it to a professional and have them deal with the shock tower rust. The truth is that any 510 you find will be rusty, its a matter of how rusty, and the les rusty ones are much more expensive, so is you want a car that will be easy and cheap to maintain, then be ready to shell out more to get the car. But if you can find a 510 that you like, by all means, buy it and drive it, because they are a blast to drive, and they look really good.
