How hard to install new brake lines?
My brakes become super spongy after a few hard stops. After that, when I hit the brakes almost nothing happens. This really, really sucks when autocrossing or going down the strip a few times.
I want these ($125): All Earls brake lines are fully D.O.T. approved. These are direct replacement to the OEM rubber hoses, no modification required to install. Stainless steel brake lines eliminate the expansion that occurs when using rubber hoses, increasing braking performance up to 30%.The pulsing and spongy feeling that occurs with ABS equipped cars will be virtually eliminated. These kits includes all bolts, washers, locating tabs and inline brackets for a direct fit. So anybody installed them on their car? Do you like them? How long did they take to install? |

Re: How hard to install new brake lines?
I don't personally have them on my car, but have installed & test drove many cars with them. There is a difference with hard braking & well the $$$.
Install is pretty simple. You need a flare nut wrench for the factory line/hose connections. No teflon tape. Make sure to replace the washers & don't over-tighten any thing. 25lb-ft @ the caliper connection // 10lb-ft @ line connection. Since you must bleed the brakes after, now would be a good time to flush out the fluid with some Super Blue Racing. Clean/adjust/lube your brakes while your at it. |

yeah a good part of your problem could just be needing to flush the old fluid from your lines but SS brake lines are great... def worth the $

Re: Re: How hard to install new brake lines?
I've got some money saved up and am going to buy EBC Greenstuff pads, silicon brake fluid (Super Blue most likely), and install these brake lines. Thanks for the help, I don't have a torque wrench but I should be alright.

Re: Re: Re: How hard to install new brake lines?
You don't need a torque wrench, just dont go crazy and you'll be fine.
After the install, make sure to pump the brake pedal & check for leaks. Don't put a lot pressure on the pedal when its hard, this is when seals blow out. |
