and revved my car up to 8000 RPM while in park? I just got the car a week ago, and after that, when i turn it on, the engine dies in 5 seconds if you don't put it into drive. help! (it's a 2000 GT btw)

you should not be able to. there is a rev limit at 6200. If you are able to, take it back to the dealer and get your money back. the car has problems.

Definately has problems. Get the tranny checked out. You might have broke something. Bring it back to the dealership if it's still under warranty and don't tell them u revved the car up to 8000 though... LMAO

Honestly, how did you put yoru foot on the accelerator instead of the brake in an automatic? were you drunk or high? haha. if yo uwere in a manual i could understand seeing how the pedals are a little closer. pay more attention next time, and learn how to drive a stick!

You couldnt possibly revved it that high. the redline is 6250, and even when it bounces off that, the highest it will reach is 6500. Also, it takes about 3 seconds for it to rev that high, so you think you wouldve noticed you were hitting the gas instead of the brake. Not too smart.
