Imported Vehicle
I have a Ford Truck, I bought it used, and it had been imported from Canada before I purchased it. The odometer has been changed to reflect Miles versus Kilometers. The title states Odometer Change, Actual Miles 6852, which is what the new odometer read when I picked up the truck.
My question is this, what affect does that have on the price. The dealership here said that is almost as bad as having a salvage title, and offered me 17,500 when Edmunds.com suggested I could get 21,000 as a trade in price. Is this dealer trying to low-ball me, or is there really a reason. The odometer has been change legally, and all the federal stickers are on the door frame to indicate so. Thanks for any and all help.. |

The dealer is playing you. The odometer change is nowhere near the same as a salvage title. Salvage means their was probably severe damage to the car and it was totaled by insurance at some point.

It definately effects the value of the car.
Not nearly as much as a salvage titile. the dealers job is to rip you off on a trade in, because they want to get as much money as possible. If what your saying is true regaurding the odo change then it shouldnt be as bad as the dealership is making it out to be. |
