99 powerstroke head gasket/cracked head/block
bought 99 f250 crew cab with 251000 miles, runs perfect and drives perfect, only problem is intermittent overflow of radiator expansion tank, new cap on tank, water pump, no water in oil, no white smoke or sweet smell on exhaust. test drove it hard for 15 minutes and coolant gushed out of reservoir, drove it 100 miles home at 55-60 and never leaked a drop, engine temp always running in the lower 1/2 of gauge, heater will blow hot for a minute, then cold for 5-10, then hot, then cold, upper radiator hose cold, don't fell a lot of flow when pinched off. anyone have more ideas other than head gasket or cracked head/block and any good ways of checking it, i was going to buy the napa block checker kit that checks for combustion gases in the cooling system and see what results i get. i would appreciate any ideas or input on what/how to diagnose this accurately. thanks in advanced.

Re: 99 powerstroke head gasket/cracked head/block
You might want look into a new engine, one from Jasper with a nationwide warranty.Jasper is the best one out there and they put in new updated parts. Most auto salvage yards will not warranty an used 7.3 powerstroke with a lot of miles on them. One fo my father's friends had a problem with his and it was over $2,000.00 to rebuild it and the cylinders had to be bored out.
