You don't care... but you're just wondering? You're building a Civic... And what does this poll have to do with 240's? Whatever...

I guess I would have to go with AWD... the best!

Re: do you care about fwd or rwd or awd?

Its either RWD or AWD. Im not a fan of FWD because there are nto as many decent handling FWD cars. Cause when you push a FWD car to its limits you get alot of front end plow and i hate that. Much rather have the read end swing out a little. Seems alot easier for me to control than a plow situation.

i have to say rear wheel drive. and not only b/c i own a 240sx. my civic was a pretty formidible auto-x car, but i hated the fwd torque steer characteristics. basically front wheel drive is cool, i just don't like the driving technique involved. and as far as awd goes, its very dominating in the hands of a skilled driver, however it never ceases to piss me off when i see idiots that can't drive in there awd cars fuck up only to have the awd system compensate. awd to me is kinda like a cheat.

i just think pure sports cars are rwd, and thats what i like.

Porsche 911 Turbo
Porsche 959
Nissan Skyline
Mitsubishi EVO
Mitsubishe Eclipse
Subaru STi/WRX

Those are all amazing AWD cars. The will nearly kill all RWD competitiors in the same class as them.

If AWD is cheating then im a cheater

Nissan's Attessa,Subaru's DCCD, Mitsubishi's AYC. mmmm good.

I dunno about the cheating Though any decent sports car can compensate for some of the drivers incompetence. I dont like drag racing in general. the real Drivers all do Road Racing,Touge,Drift

this has nothing to do with 240SX's.

240SX isn't the only forum on AF. please try to find the appropriate forum when you post something.

moved where i thought was best.

AWD is tight. fastest launch, practical, great in snowy and bad conditions. AWD all the way, but i'm a poor bastard so I got a RWD car

Re: Re: do you care about fwd or rwd or awd?

RWD when the engine is in the rear, otherwise FWD. I believe in having all the works at one end, makes much more sense than the other layouts.
FWD generally is easier to handle than RR layout, but having the engine in the rear offers better traction than FR or FF, and it keeps all the mechanical noise behind you, and takes up just as little space as FWD, but without torquesteer, or the stiffening of the steering gear as you reach lock.

Re: do you care about fwd or rwd or awd?

I don't really care, I've owned nothing but FWD cars though, more by coincidence I guess, I didn't go out in search of FWD cars. I think FWD can be fun though, I'm looking at a VW Rabbit GTI right now, I found one a bit run down that would make a great project. I had a Taurus SHO, that thing was a screamer on the highway, but I still love driving my friends Mustang. I've never really driven a fast AWD car so I can't say.

Re: do you care about fwd or rwd or awd?

In most situations I prefer RWD, unless I'm going offroading in which case AWD is better. However, if I'm just driving around in the city, I don't really care what wheels have power going to them provided the car gets me where I want to go.

I like the FR layout, mainly the RX-7 FC, but also like the silvia, Sil-Eighty. I currently Drive a MX-3 GS, the car handles corners great, but I love to get sideways, Drifting is my driving, I've driven all 4 types of drive train, FF, FR, AWD, and MR. Awd you have no feeling in the Steering wheel, and MR either pushes understear badly or overstears badly.. The FF I currently have can drift, but I loose speed doing it and no I don't use the handbrake , but driving an FF you can't hold long drifts like you can with a FR, My next car I hope to be and FC or S13 Silvia (240sx conversion). but anyways that's my thoughts.

you make a good point but its the "nearly" that stands out. i would never turn down one of those cars. but rwd is just proper and to me the most challeging. i've auto-xed wrx's and s4's, there amazing. but not as fun as an fc rx7 or corvette z06. this is just my opinion tho, and i would love to own the evo. after driving that i fell in love.
