I guess it is a good thing for me; the weather is getting hot and I need some of that. Quote:
You are absolutely right. I actually wrote the reason why I ended up with bunch of parts (duplicated ones) in my first post, it really boils down to my lack of planning here... I have been thinking about building Enzo for the past several years and shopping for detail parts on and off without giving too much thought because I was also committed with other builds. Then recently I decided to actually build one so here we are...

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
More update today...
I organized the electric wirings and they look very... um.. organized... The intake cover presents a difficult challenge. Maybe it isn't hard for most of us, but I am afraid to even attempt detailing the intake cover because the shape and molded pipe lines... I will give a "thinner" wash to tone down these wash lines (A). I will attempt to detail this one now. I will use the Museum Collection's carbon fiber decal here, I think the pattern looks very good for this part. I just cut the decal to cover the biggest area with my first try. Lots of MicroSol and MicroSet solutions to massage the decal... Little bit of 60W light bulb "sun tan", the decal came out okay. I will now cover the left overs (blue arrow) with smaller cuts. The engine seems to be looking more like an engine now... But I still have lots of way to go. I added some heat stain with "smoke clear + semi gloss black" mix around the exhaust areas. I work for Alclad... No, I am just lying to you... I think it is crucial to represent metal finishes in our scale modeling and Alclad does its job well. I gave two clear coats to protect the carbon fiber decals. I use acrylic clear for this...

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Jumping to other parts now...
This is the look I wanted to achieve. I know not everything is covered with CF decals on the dashboard, but I want this to look very shiny... I think some of you might agree with me that those BBR CF decals do look very convincing. These Acu-Stion tuned parts are quite good, but I don't have courage to drill holes on the shock struts to connect pressure hoses... What to do, what to do... Another jump... My deepest apology if you are confused following my build diary. I get bored working on one thing, I have to constantly find something else to look... These are Crazy Modeler's brake parts, I can tell you that it is crazy working on this. I spent 30 minutes to just complete one side. Each of the vented pin must be twisted and positioned to accept the rotors. For me, I just made it to look fairly good, then complete the part. Since I will be display the car with the wheels mounted, this whole exercise is merit-less and point-less.... No?... I must save the calipers... Lots of painful sanding and drilling, I got one caliper. I am starting to lose my motivation for this build... I also started body modifications here, but I am stuck now... I have very little idea as to how the front storage area under the hood and these fenders should look when the front hood is open?... I would like to aks your help in finding reference photos for the front "hood". Please help me~

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Sweet build so far, will be using it for reference when I make my own super detailed enzo...
I'm surprised you don't have the SMS Enzo CD. (well worth the 15 bucks imho) PM me with your e-mail, and I'll send you a bunch. Although I have spent around iono... 200 or more preparing for my enzo... I just realized after seeing your thread, that I need to get some sakatsu stuff... Your enzo is the first one I've seen with an open trunk attempt, hrm... thank you for the ref Steve

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Looking good "madman", lol. I must give you needed props for the one part that 99% of the people that build Enzo's never do - they never take out the vent material in the dash like you have. Not many people realize that the dash is built that way and has a very fine mesh there. Great job!!!

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Very very very cool and interesting build. I like the dash very very much. The decals seem to line up perfectly. I 'm in awe and quite speechless of the superb work you're doing, in such a way that I'll just use a sequence of words to describe how it is looking ; very very very good!
Keep it up, and don't get discouraged! Oli |
